15 Anime Characters That Can Beat Kaguya Ōtsutsuki

I think I speak for everyone when I say that Kaguya was a terrible villain.

She only got small mentions prior to her appearance, and she basically pulled the rug out from under Madara – who was way more fitting of being the last boss.

However, Kaguya was extremely powerful, I will give her that much.

Teleporting across dimensions, launching one-shot abilities, and lusting over shadow clones, she was quite something.

But let’s take a look at anime as a whole and ask one real question: “which characters have enough hax to actually defeat Kaguya?”

15. Kageyama Shigeo

Kageyama Shigeo from Mob Psycho 100

Anime: Mob Psycho 100

We’ll start with Mob, as he’s slightly on the debatable side.

In order to even stand in the ring, Mob would have to be at 100% power and fully willing to kill, as Kaguya does not mess around – and usually goes for one shots.

When at full power, Mob can tank nukes at point blank range and toss around giant buildings like they were made out of paper.

I don’t think Mob would attack Kaguya directly, though, as she can absorb energy.

But throwing buildings at her might work if he gets lucky.

I’m also including a bit of head-cannon and saying that he could perhaps find a way to seal her, being that he’s an esper and all that.

Her dimension shifting shouldn’t give him too much trouble since he has shield, and can fly around, but if he gets hit by one of those bones he’s out.

14. Yami Sukehiro

Yami Sukehiro from Black Clover

Anime: Black Clover

This fight relies heavily on the fact that we consider Kaguya to come from a similar place to demons.

The thing that makes Yami so dangerous in Black Clover is his position as an arcane mage with the ability to damage demons with his dark magic, and I think that would translate to this fight as well.

We’ve seen him completely annihilate Dante’s body with a single thrust, and his newfound speed and agility makes him quite difficult to pin down.

Plus, if we’re taking things literally, his dimension slash should be able to damage Kaguya even when she’s hopping around with her portals.

For bonus points, he could always just take his shirt off and get that slight CC against her.

13. Tet

Tet from No Game, No Life

Anime: No Game, No Life

This battle would have to occur within the universe of No Game No Life in order to work.

You see, Tet has made it a rule that fighting is only possible through games, making it so that the smartest people around can prosper.

Kaguya is just straight-up dumb. In her fight against Team 7, Black Zetsu had to tell her the most obvious things about combat – like the benefit of separating your enemies, or the fact that the real Naruto has orbs around him.

Tet on the other hand has only been bested by super-geniuses Sora and Shiro.

So if the two gods were to play a game, Kaguya would stand no chance.

That is, unless she just hopped back to her dimension, but let’s not think about that part.

12. Rimuru Tempest

Rimuru Tempest from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Anime: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

If we’re talking about the light novel, RImuru takes this fight with 0 difficulty.

It gets a bit more dicey with the anime – but I do still believe there’s a case to be made.

After becoming a demon lord, Rimuru has gained access to even greater power than he previously had.

He has a super computer in his mind that can calculate everything and anything, at least a dozen or so separate abilities and skills, and enough power to wipe out entire armies.

And it’s actually the super computer part that makes me think Rimuru could win, as it could whip up a way to seal Kaguya away forever.

I mean, even base Rimuru had the capacity to eat a dragon and seal it away. So a superpowered one should be able to pull this off.

If sealing is out of the question, the success of victory does drop significantly. However, I would still call it a 50/50 chance.

11. Meliodas

Meliodas from The Seven Deadly Sins

Anime: The Seven Deadly Sins

To be clear, we’re talking about Demon King Meliodas here.

I think Meliodas just counters Kaguya from what we’ve seen in the show, as her dimension switching means nothing to a dude who spent a thousand years in Hell. And her immense power means nothing to a dude who defied gods already.

He’s capable of tearing curses apart with his bare hands, so one could argue that he might survive her bone attack, and her attempts at Genjutsu.

He could also just full-counter everything she threw at him, making her own power become her enemy.

It wouldn’t be the cleanest victory – but I do think he could pull it off.

10. Anos Voldigoad

Anos Voldigoad from The Misfit of Demon King Academy

Anime: The Misfit of Demon King Academy

We’ve finished with all of the questionable choices on this list (and I’m sure many of you have already been disagreeing so far), but now it’s time to talk about hax.

Anos is so powerful that the only person who has ever defeated him, was himself.

He single-handedly twisted and molded the future of the planet, which Kaguya only did through Black Zetsu. And his battle prowess is so high that he never even has to get serious.

Him blinking in your general direction can even knock you off your feet!

And seeing that Kaguya did take damage from physical attacks (admittedly not a lot of it, but it was still there), I’m pretty confident when I say that Anos could find a way to kick her teeth in.

9. Ryou Asuka

Ryou Asuka from Devilman: Crybaby

Anime: Devilman: Crybaby

Let’s just rip off the band-aid quickly: Ryou is Satan.

And the reason I think Ryou would smack Kaguya around like a little child is that he simply outscales her.

In her flashback, a fully-powered Kaguya battled her children for months and severely damaged a continent.

In Ryou’s final battle, he fought for a few hours and managed to basically destroy the entire world.

That is, until a literal God stepped in and had to blow up Earth to kill Ryou.

Kaguya can be punched in the face, sealed, and even killed by regular means. It’s stated so online – but you have to full-on smite Ryou and an entire planet if you want him to go away, which is indicative of his power.

8. Nanika

Nanika from Hunter x Hunter (2011)

Anime: Hunter x Hunter (2011)

If hax was a character, it would be Nanika.

Being that we anime-only watchers know nothing of the Dark Continent, Nanika’s existence is shrouded in mystery.

The one thing we do know, however, is that she can fulfill any wish imaginable – as long as you can pay the price later.

Said price usually has her wiping out half the country in an instant.

And it’s not like she physically goes over to each victim and stabs them, they just die.

Even though Kaguya is the mother of all chakra, she has never shown this type of power, as she physically has to do everything – while Nanika can just think it and it’s as good as done.

Therefore, someone could just wish for Kaguya to go away and Nanika would oblige.

She would then kill everyone on Earth – but that’s besides the point.

7. Goku

Goku from Dragon Ball Z

Anime: Dragon Ball Z

It goes without saying that Dragon Ball Z scales higher than anything Naruto could ever come up with.

When destroying planets is a mundane fodder-character level ability, things tend to go nuts.

We’ve seen Goku fight literal gods in Dragon Ball Super. And unlike Kaguya, those dudes are wiping out entire universes.

But even if we stay within the realm of Dragon Ball Z, Kaguya would stand no chance.

Even if she could absorb the Spirit Bomb entirely, Goku’s raw physical strength would just do her in given enough time.

And I doubt dimension swapping would do absolutely anything, since he can always Instant Transmission himself back.

6. Isshiki Otsutsuki

Isshiki Otsutsuki from Boruto

Anime: Boruto

I see some fans getting this one twisted up and saying that Kaguya beats Isshiki, and I’m here to spread the truth.

True, in the manga Kaguya cut Isshiki in half. However, she only managed to do it because he was caught off guard.

Plus, Kaguya can’t even scale to Momoshiki properly, let alone Isshiki.

Kaguya was defeated by young worn-out Sasuke and Naruto – while both Momoshiki and Isshiki went toe to toe with their adult, rested selves.

And if we’re looking towards the manga, Kaguya has stated herself that she would need an army to defeat enemies like Isshiki or Momoshiki. Myth busted, good night.

5. Reinhard van Astrea

Reinhard van Astrea from Re: Zero

Anime: Re: Zero

This dude just has the generic shounen protagonist hack as an ability.

Like he’ll literally always have the perfect power that’ll destroy the enemy, regardless of how powerful they are.

However, that’s mostly from the manga.

But even if we do look at just the anime, a case can still be made for this fight.

Reinhard completely annihilated an enraged Puck, who was stated to be “planet level powerful” on the destruction scale.

For all intents and purposes, Kaguya is planet level at the high end, so even anime Reinhard should be able to put her to rest with his sword.

4. Saitama

Saitama from One Punch Man

Anime: One Punch Man

We’ve all seen One Punch Man, and we all know that his power is immeasurable.

There’s even quite the popular theory that Saitama has hax himself in the form of a power that’ll always make him the strongest no matter who he faces.

But even if we don’t rely on that theory, Saitama still wins easily.

He far outscales Naruto, Sasuke, and full-power Kakashi put together in terms of strengths, speed, and durability.

So at best, Saitama would get a slight kick out of the fight, and then win. While at worst, he would just blitz Kaguya and then one-shot her like everyone that came before her.

3. Simon

Simon from Gurren Lagann

Anime: Gurren Lagann

Just like Dragon Ball, Gurren Lagann simply outscales almost every other show.

For heaven’s sake, the final battle has Simon throwing universes around like they were Frisbees!

That statement alone should make it obvious why end-game Simon simply outscales Kaguya in every conceivable way.

The battlefield has just become so large that Kaguya and her created dimensions would just be a stepping stone for Simon, as he goes towards a worthy opponent.

She could perhaps yank him out of the mech with her portal. But I feel like Simon would just give a monologue, drill her portal, and somehow come out the victor.

2. Altair

Altair from Re: Creators

Anime: Re: Creators

No matter how powerful Kaguya may be, she does not scale infinitely.

Altair, on the other hand, is basically a god when regular people are on her side.

She draws power from people’s stories about her, making anything they write cannon.

And the thing is, everyone hates Kaguya. Do the people writing Altair stories would no-doubt make Altair win somehow.

I mean, who would you root for:

A hot waifu with a cool hat, or some alien chick who keeps yapping on about her children?

The power of Reddit is simply too much for Kaguya to handle.

1. Madoka Kaname

Madoka Kaname from Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Anime: Puella Magi Madoka Magica

I want to end our list with this pick, as this fight would be visually the most hilarious.

Do you remember when you thought this was some childish Sailor-Moon rip off? Simpler times.

By the end of the series, Madoka just becomes multi-dimensional, being granted the ability to twist the rules and facts about the world at her will.

And she can do that across all universes, covering the past, present, and future.

So if she wanted to, she could just wipe out the entire Otsutsuki clan from existence.

And there’s nothing that Kaguya could really do about it either, since this would carry over to every universe and timeline, meaning that her portals won’t change a damn thing.
