You can unlock unlimited fire paper in the Hunter’s Dream Shop, and this is the best way to farm fire paper in bulk. But first you’ll have to collect the Radiant Sword Hunter Badge from Cathedral Ward.

We’ll cover exactly how to find this Badge & how to buy as much fire paper as you want.

How To Unlock Fire Paper

Fire Paper can be unlocked in the Hunter’s Dream shop fairly early on in your trip through Yharnam.

Before you can get started on unlocking it, you’ll first have to beat the Blood-starved Beast. Once you have, use the Hunter’s Dream tombstones to warp to the Cathedral Ward Lamp.

Walk forwards from the lamp and turn right immediately after walking down the stairs. Along this wall is a set of doors that only opens if you’ve beaten the Blood-starved Beast.

Head through the doors and down the corridor, then take the elevator here. At the top of the elevator, you’ll find yourself at the entrance to the Healing Church Workshop.

Walk across this bridge and into the room directly ahead. Take out the enemies, then walk up the spiral staircase.

Watch out for the hidden Rifleman to your left and take him out before he starts firing his gatling gun.

Head back outside and turn left. Take out the two Riflemen and the Brick Troll, then continue on until you find a ladder.

Climb up to the next floor and turn left to find the door back inside. In this final room you’ll find the Radiant Sword Hunter Badge in a chest, guarded by a group of enemies.

Buying Fire Paper

With the Radiant Sword Hunter Badge collected, the Messenger Shop in the Hunter’s Dream will now sell new weapons and items, including an unlimited stash of Fire Paper.

The cost of Fire Paper changes over time, increasing as you progress through the game.

The prices are as follows:

  • 1,720 Blood Echoes (default price)
  • 4,200 Blood Echoes (after defeating Vicar Amelia)
  • 8,400 Blood Echoes (after defeating Rom, The Vacuous Spider)
  • 12,600 Blood Echoes (after defeating the final boss)

Needless to say, Fire paper goes for a high price.

What Does Fire Paper Do?

Fire Paper is a consumable item that buffs your right-hand weapon, adding extra damage and infusing it with fire damage for 60 seconds per use.

To get the most out of this damage boost, you’ll have to understand when you should use it.

When Should I Use Fire Paper?

Fire Paper adds a flat 80 Fire damage to your weapon.

This is a pretty big increase on its own, so it makes sense that you’d want to use it all the time.

Unfortunately, Fire Paper is in short supply. And even after you unlock it for purchase, it’s very expensive.

Spending the entire game with a buffed Fire weapon just isn’t sustainable.

To stop yourself from going bankrupt, you’ll have to pick your battles.

As well as the 80 bonus damage, a Fire-infused weapon will do bonus damage to all beast-like enemies, such as Werewolves and Huntsman. Save your Fire Paper for these encounters.

A Fire Paper buff can also be the deciding factor in the fights against some of Bloodborne’s toughest bosses.

More specifically, a fire weapon is most effective against:

  • Vicar Amelia
  • Amygdala
  • Ebrietas, Daughter of The Cosmos
  • Darkbeast Paarl
  • The true final boss (no spoilers)
