The Old Market Street is a Level 3 unique building in Cities Skylines. To unlock it, you’ll need to have 5,000 meters of walking tours in your city. You’ll also need to have reached the Boom Town milestone, as this unlocks the level 3 unique buildings tab as well as walking tours.

Depending on the map, the population required for the Boom Town milestone can be anywhere from 650 to 2,600.

The Old Market Street is also a requirement for the Castle of Lord Chirpwick monument.

How To Create Walking Tours

To create the tours you need, go to the Tours tab of the Transport menu, and select the Walking Tour Point of Interest.

While this is selected, the map will show you the various points of interest across your city. The more intense the shade of purple, the more interesting that spot is for tourists.

Decide where you want the tour to begin and end (the tour has to loop back to its starting point) and place a walking tour point there.

Continue to place points of interest along your tour. These stops can be placed along sidewalks, pedestrian paths, as well as the walkways and entrances of parks and public attractions.

Finally, click once more on the point of origin to complete the tour.

You can hover over the silhouette of the Old Market Street in the Level 3 unique buildings menu to see your progress.

Note that newly created walking tours aren’t always added to this total right away, so wait a while for the progress bar to update.

Once unlocked, you can build the Old Market Street from the level 3 menu for ₡75,000.

Because of its traditional look, the Old Market Street looks great alongside European-style buildings (either on a European map, or using the European district style).

Providing Points of Interest

Creating walking tours for this unlock is pretty easy and fun… unless you’ve been very stingy about providing your citizens with leisure and attractions!

Here are things that will make your city more interesting to tourists:

  • Monuments
  • Unique buildings
  • Parks and plazas (ploppable)
  • Custom park areas (Parklife DLC)
  • Public libraries
