There are 8 Titanite Slabs up for grabs in each playthrough of Dark Souls 3. The locations and vendors you can get them from are as follows:

  • The Grand Archives (3 Slabs)
  • The Shrine Handmaid (1 Slab)
  • The Shrine Crow (1 Slab)
  • Archdragon Peak (2 Slabs)
  • Siegward of Catarina (1 Slab)

We’ll break down exactly how to get every Titanite Slab below, starting with the simplest Slabs to get, then moving onto the most hidden.

The Grand Archives (3 Slabs)

The easiest way to get hold of some Titanite Slabs is to pick them up during your trip to the Grand Archives.

There’s three in total, and they can all be picked up in one trip through the area.

Start from the Grand Archives bonfire, and head through the main doors.

From here, work your way through the bookcases until you find yourself by the large wax basin at the back of the room.

Head through the door to the right of the basin to enter a haunted library room, then take the stairs up and out onto the balcony.

Once on the balcony, turn left and follow the main path until you see a pair of bookcases with a lever between them to your right.

Pull the lever to lower a bookshelf on the floor below, then retrace your steps through the haunted library room to find yourself back at the wax basin, facing away from it.

From here, take the middle corridor until you reach the small balcony at its end, then turn right to enter the area that the lever revealed.

Turn right into this secret area and open the chest to loot your first Titanite Slab.

The next Titanite Slab can be found at the very top of the Grand Archives, up on the roof.

Continue climbing from the balcony lever and you’ll eventually come to an outside segment with a group of hostile NPCs ahead of you.

Once the NPCs are dead, head into the building behind them, send the elevator down to unlock a shortcut back to the bonfire, then carry on out of the opposite door.

From here, turn left and head up the stairs. At the top you’ll be faced with a massive rooftop, home to 3 Golden Winged Knights.

It’s these 3 Knights that hold the Titanite Slab, so head towards the center of the roof to trigger a fight with them.

This is surely to be the hardest fight in the Grand Archives so far, so try to take them on one on one, and fish for backstabs to keep them down.

Once you defeat the third Knight, the Slab will drop from its body. Pick it up and run back down the way you got to the roof to rejoin the main path.

Run past the battlements and up the huge staircase past the buffed Lothric Knights. Turn right at the top of the stairs, then head into the small building that holds an elevator.

Take the elevator all the way down, then hit the elevator button again and immediately leave the lift.

The lift will rise without you, and shortly a new lift will rise from below. Get into this secret elevator, and take the ride down to find the final Grand Archives Titanite Slab.

The Shrine Handmaid (1 Slab)

The next easiest way to get a Titanite Slab is by unlocking it in the Firelink Shrine store by defeating all four Lords of Cinder. The four Lords and their locations are as follows:

  • Abyss Watchers (Farron Keep)
  • Yhorm The Giant (Profaned Capital)
  • Aldrich, Devourer of Gods (Anor Londo)
  • The Twin Princes (Grand Archives)

Once you’ve defeated each of these bosses, place their Ashes on the thrones found in Firelink Shrine.

With all four Ashes placed on their respective thrones, head down to visit the Shrine Handmaid to purchase a Titanite Slab for 30,000 Souls.

The Shrine Crow (1 Slab)

This is another relatively simple way to get a Slab, however I can’t recommend it. To get it, you’ll have to trade away an incredibly valuable item – the Coiled Sword Fragment.

The Coiled Sword Fragment acts as an infinite Homeward Bone, allowing you to warp back to a Bonfire at any time.

If you still want to obtain this extra Slab, start from the Dancer of the Boreal Valley Bonfire to start your journey to find the Coiled Sword Fragment.

Go up the ladder that leads to Lothric Castle, and turn left at the crossroad of staircases.

Following the main path from here, you’ll naturally find an elevator that descends into the Consumed King’s Garden.

This area is dangerous, but it’s surprisingly easy to navigate. The Garden is actually just a simple rectangular area, with a building on its right side and a boss at one end.

Run forward from where you step out of the elevator and you’ll find yourself at the boss arena in no time.

Oceiros, the boss of the Consumed King’s Garden.

Defeat Consumed King Oceiros and exit the arena via the back door. You’ll find yourself in a temple room with an item in its center.

This is the ‘Path of the Dragon’ gesture, an essential item for getting to Archdragon Peak, an optional endgame area that houses two more Titanite Slabs and the best boss in the game.

With the Gesture picked up, head to the chest at the back of the room and attack the back wall to reveal a secret area hidden behind it, the Untended Graves.

The Untended Graves are an exact replica of the Cemetery of Ash, the tutorial area, albeit with some much stronger enemies and a lot less sunlight.

Head through the Graves in the same way you went through the Cemetery at the start of the game, defeating the harder variant of Iudex Gundyr along your way.

Past the Champion Gundyr arena, you’ll find a darkened replica of Firelink Shrine, with the Coiled Sword Fragment where the Shrine Bonfire usually is.

Pick up the Fragment, then use it to warp back to the Shrine Bonfire.

Once back in the real Firelink Shrine, head over to the Shrine Handmaid and purchase the Tower Key with the souls you got for defeating Champion Gundyr.

From the center of the Shrine, walk up the stairs opposite to Prince Lothric’s Throne (the largest), then turn left instead of stepping outside to continue climbing.

Head out of the archways here and up to the door at the stop of the stairs. Use the Tower Key to unlock the door and head inside.

At the top of the tower staircase, you’ll find a crumbling bridge with the main Shrine building below and to the left.

Step off of the bridge and land on the Shrine rooftop, then head over to the Crow’s nest at the roof’s peak.

Exhaust the invisible Crow’s dialogue, then open your menu, select the Coiled Sword Fragment and choose to ‘Leave’ it.

Make sure not to ‘Discard’ it, as this will delete the item entirely.

Once the Coiled Sword Fragment has been dropped into the nest, the Crow will giggle in excitement before giving you a Titanite Slab as your reward.

Archdragon Peak (2 Slabs)

I recommend seeking out these Slabs only if you’ve finished the main game, as Archdragon Peak is by far the hardest area in Dark Souls 3.

Archdragon Peak is a hidden area that you can unlock through using the ‘Path of The Dragon’ on a cliffside in Irithyll Dungeon.

If you don’t have the ‘Path of The Dragon’ gesture, check out how to get it in the entry above.

To find the cliffside that unlocks the Peak, start from the Irithyll Dungeon Bonfire, head through the front door and turn right at the end of the corridor.

Turn left and run past the Jailor on the bridge, then turn left through the gate. As soon as you’re through the gate, drop down to the path below you and turn right.

Head through the gate at the end of this path and take the elevator down. At the bottom of this elevator ride is a cliffside with some dead NPCs praying.

Sit down on the empty mat between two of these NPCs, and perform the ‘Path of The Dragon’. A cutscene will play, and you’ll be whisked away to Archdragon Peak.

Once you’ve arrived, explore the area as you would naturally, and take your time dealing with the dangers of the Peak.

Once you’ve reached the Great Belfry Bonfire at the highest point of the peak, you’ll be able to start finding the Slabs.

From the Bonfire, head out of the archway to the left (the one with the smaller staircase) and down the stairs. Head up the matching staircase on the other side of this small outside area.

At the end of this second staircase, you’ll find a wooden ladder to your left behind some stone pillars.

Head up the ladder to find a familiar face from the first Dark Souls stood next to a dead dragon and the Titanite Slab that we’re after.

You can kill Havel or avoid him entirely. I usually avoid him and grab the Titanite Slab before quickly fleeing.

The second Titanite Slab can also be found from the Great Belfry Bonfire, by defeating the Nameless King, the boss that resides in the arena next to the Bonfire.

Pull the huge lever in the corridor next to the Bonfire to spawn the boss, then get ready.

This is by far the hardest boss in the game, so only attempt to get this Slab if you’ve already upgraded your main weapons to +10.

Once The Nameless King has been defeated, head to the nearest corpse to pick up the Titanite Slab.

Siegward of Catarina (1 Slab)

Towards the end of his long questline, Siegward of Catarina will grant you a Titanite Slab for the trouble of accompanying him on his journey throughout the game.

Here’s a quick rundown of the steps you’ll need to follow to get the Slab from him:

  1. Find Siegward by the entrance to the Road of Sacrifices.
  2. Talk to him, then find him on the balcony by riding the elevator and jumping out of it.
  3. Talk to him again, then defeat the nearby Fire Demon together.
  4. Talk to him after the battle.
  5. Find Patches in the Cathedral of The Deep, and fall into his trap.
  6. Find Patches again at the Cathedral Bedchamber, and kill him for the Onion armor.
  7. Talk to Siegward, trapped in the well by the main Cathedral Bonfire.
  8. Find Siegward on the main path in Irithyll of The Boreal Valley and talk to him.
  9. Find the Cell Key in Irithyll Dungeon.
  10. Find Siegward in a prison cell in the Profaned Capital and free him with the key.
  11. Talk to him to receive your slab.
