You can get Raw Gems in a few different ways.

All the best methods for finding them are as follows:

  • Killing a Crystal Lizard on The High Wall of Lothric (1 Gem)
  • Looting Lothric Castle (1 Gem)
  • Farming Large Hollow Soldiers (infinite Gems)

We’ll cover exactly how to carry out these methods below, as well as how to use your Raw Gems once you’ve found them.

Method 1: Killing The High Wall Crystal Lizard

The first gem can be found by killing a Crystal Lizard found near to the Tower on The Wall Bonfire. Warp there to get started.

Walk down the stairs and into the building below, then drop off of the broken floor to your right.

Take out the enemies down here, then look around until you see the door to the outside.
Once outside, take out the enemies and look over the ledge towards the rooftops below.

You’ll see a group of Hollows kneeling on a slanted piece of roof – behind this slanted roof is the Crystal Lizard you’re after.

Roll off of the ledge and cautiously head towards the rooftop inhabited by Hollows.

One Hollow amongst the group will transform into a much more dangerous enemy once you enter this portion of roof, so make sure to be ready when you cross the threshold between roofs.

As soon as you cross the threshold, start sprinting. Hug the right side of the roof until you reach the corner, then turn left and run along this edge of the roof.

Run past the outcroppings on your left, and look behind the final one to find the Crystal Lizard hiding there.

If you were fast enough while reaching it, you should have a few seconds of safety in which you can take out the fleeing Crystal Lizard.

Doing so will net you your first Raw Gem.

Method 2: Looting Lothric Castle

The second Raw Gem is found on a corpse in Lothric Castle, right after the Dragon Barracks Bonfire.

From the Bonfire, walk up the stairs to your right to reach the dragon-guarded bridge. Run onto the bridge, then immediately roll off of the left side to land on a pathway below.

Follow this pathway around to the left of the dragons until you reach a small group of enemies. Head up the stairs and take them out before continuing.

With the enemies dead, walk up the small set of steps to the right of the path, then head through the archway at the top.

Take out the enemy in this room then turn right to see a corpse at the end of the room holding an item.

Walk up to this item and interact with it to get your second Raw Gem.

Method 3: Farming Large Hollow Soldiers

Once you’ve collected the two guaranteed Raw Gems, you’ll have to resort to farming to collect more.

Luckily, this is pretty easy if you know how.

First things first: make sure you boost your item discovery stat to speed up the farming process. You can check out our farming build setup guide for a rundown on maximizing your farming speed.

Once you’ve boosted your item discovery stat, warp to the High Wall of Lothric Bonfire to get started.

The targets of this farm are the two Large Hollow Soldiers in the area to the right of this platform.

From the Bonfire, walk to the hole in the brickwork across the platform, then take out the Archer here. Drop down from this ledge and take out the dogs below.

The first Large Hollow Soldier may hear your fight with the Dogs and get involved. If so, focus on the Dogs first before turning your attention to the Soldier.

If the Soldier doesn’t take notice of the fight, head down the stairs to the left of this walkway to find the Soldier patrolling. Take it out for your first shot at a Raw Gem.

Head back up the stairs and you’ll probably find the second Large Hollow Soldier patrolling the pathway that was once home to the Dogs. If so, take it out to complete the farm

If the Soldier isn’t there, continue down the path. You’ll find the Soldier on the stairs at the path’s end.

With both Soldiers dead, walk back to the Bonfire and rest to reset the area and try the farm again.

This may take a few tries to get a Raw Gem drop, but persevere and you’re sure to get one.

How To Use Raw Gems

Once you’ve got a Raw Gem, warp to Firelink Shrine and walk down the main tunnel to meet Andre the Blacksmith.

Talk to him and choose the ‘Infuse Weapon’ option. In this new menu you can choose to infuse any weapon you own with the Raw Infusion in exchange for one Raw Gem and some souls.

Infusing a weapon with a Raw Infusion removes all of its stat scaling in exchange for more damage, making it a great choice for the early game, when you don’t have many points in your Dexterity or Strength stats.
