In Dark Souls 3 you can farm Sunlight Medals in two main ways:

  • Helping other players defeat bosses (online method)
  • Farming Lothric Knights (offline method)

For the best results, you should try both of these simultaneously. We’ll detail exactly how to pull this off below.

Helping Other Players (Online Method)

The main goal of a member of the Warriors of Sunlight covenant is to help other players, and get Sunlight Medals in return.

It goes without saying that online co-op is the intended way for you to gain Sunlight Medals, and was once the fastest method, too.

Unfortunately, six years on from release, Dark Souls 3’s online community isn’t as thriving as it used to be.

Due to the lower player count, I recommend you set this method up first, and then use the offline farming method (found below) to collect Medals as you wait to be summoned for co-op.

To start, you’ll first need to be a part of the Warriors of Sunlight covenant.

To gain membership, you’ll need the Warriors of Sunlight Pledge, found in the Undead Settlement.

Warp to the Undead Settlement Bonfire to get started.

From the Bonfire, walk straight ahead and into the dark building on the main path. Drop down off the broken floorboards, turn right, and follow the corridor out of the building.

Once outside, you’ll see a large congregation of enemies surrounding a tree. Run past them and bear right, then roll off the short ledge in front of you.

Once you’ve dropped down, you’ll see a stone archway to your left.

Walk under the archway and turn right to find a small set of steps leading to a closed door.

Head into this building and smash through the boxes to your right to reveal a hole in the floor.

Drop down through this hole to find yourself in a hidden room. Interact with the item on the table to pick up the Warriors of Sunlight Pledge and join the covenant.

With the Pledge collected, warp to Firelink Shrine.

Once in the shrine, speak to the Handmaiden in the tunnel straight ahead, and buy the White Sign Soapstone from her for 500 souls.

With these two items collected, you’re ready to start the farm.

Doing The Farm

Equip the Warriors of Sunlight Pledge in your covenant slot and assign the Soapstone to your quick menu.

Make sure you’re playing online, then go to a boss fog gate of your choosing and use the Soapstone to place your summon sign down.

Keep your level in mind, as the game won’t allow you to be summoned if you’re overleveled for the boss fight you put your summon sign next to.

The hardest bosses in the game are the best choices here, since more people are likely to summon you for help against harder foes.

If you’re going to be farming Sunlight Medals offline as well, I recommend putting your summon sign down next to the Dragonslayer Armour arena, since it’s close to the offline farming spot.

With your summon sign down, there’s nothing to do but wait for another player to get stuck on the boss and summon you into their world for help.

You’ll get 1 Sunlight Medal every time that you defeat a boss alongside a co-op partner.

Farming Lothric Knights (Offline Method)

If you want to fill the time between summons and speed up the Sunlight Medal farming process, I strongly recommend farming Lothric Knights while you wait for co-op battles.

First things first:

Make sure that you have a very high item discovery stat, as Sunlight Medals are an extremely rare drop from Lothric Knights.

If you need help boosting your item discovery, we have a guide dedicated to maximizing your farming luck.

Once you’ve gained as much item discovery as you can, warp to the Lothric Castle Bonfire to start the farm.

Once you spawn in at the Bonfire, immediately run towards the Lothric Knight with its back to you, and get ready to fight.

Once it’s dead, return to the Bonfire to respawn it and fight again.

There are more elaborate, less tedious ways to farm Sunlight Medals than fighting this single enemy, but this is by far the fastest method in the game.

Once you’re good at taking it down quickly, you can repeat a run in around 15 seconds.

With a high item discovery stat, you can expect a Sunlight Medal once every 5 minutes or so with this farm, getting you every Warrior of Sunlight reward in just over 2 hours.
