The For Sale sign is a rather annoying item that you can’t ever sell or drop. The only way to get rid of it is to store it via the Escargo Express.

Although initially, picking up the For Sale sign sounds like such a good idea at the time.

You can buy it from a merchant in Twoson’s Burglin Park for the measly price of $98.

Be warned though, that from that point on it will make itself right at home in your inventory!

In terms of functionality, the For Sale Sign has just one use:

When used from your inventory, a random NPC will approach you to buy stuff from you.

This doesn’t happen instantly – they usually get to your position in a few minutes or so.

These NPCs act just like any other Earthbound store, so they can only buy things you would normally be able to sell. How ironic would it be if you could sell them the For Sale Sign?

The way that these NPCs reach you is really interesting though.

If you’re somewhere where NPCs already are, then no problem.

But if you are inside a cave or a house, the NPC will contact you berating you for running a shoddy business.

The For Sale Sign cannot be used once you defeat Giygas. The reason for this is that the writing on the sign is illegible due to the passage of time.

How To Use The Escargo Express

You have access to the Escargo Express after you call Ness’ mother for the first time. She will tell you that your sister Tracy has started working for the Escargo Express.

From that point on, you can either call Tracy, or speak to her directly at Ness’ house or Magicant later in the game.

Once you speak to her, a courier will arrive almost instantly.

Tip: bear in mind that the courier can’t reach you if you’re indoors or in a cave.

He charges a flat fee of $18, and allows you to store up to three items at a time. Up to 34 items can be stored.

You can also call Escargo Express to retrieve items you’ve stored.

What makes it such a useful function is that it lets you store items that you can’t sell or drop.

Perfect for stuff that clogs up your inventory, such as the For Sale Sign.

The fun doesn’t stop there though.

You can also use the Escargo Express to store Teddy Bears and Super Plush Bears. And then once you retrieve them, they will have their HP completely restored. This is a perfect exploit for low level challenge runs, or if you’re too stingy to pay for recovery items.
