How To Counter ML Ken in Epic Seven

There are plenty of counters to ML Ken, but the most optimal would be to kill him in one hit. The best Hero to achieve something like this would be Little Queen Charlotte.

Little Queen Charlotte deals additional damage to Dark Heroes, and when attacking a Dark Hero with her skill three, she will deal additional damage to all other enemies based on her Attack stat.

Other Heroes with the potential to one-shot ML Ken include:

• Challenger Dominiel
• Dark Corvus
• Watcher Schuri
• Cermia
• Inferno Khawazu
• Ervalen
• Specimen Sez
• Yufine
• Hwayoung

Alternate Counters To ML Ken

While one-shotting ML Ken is the most efficient way of dealing with him, there are several other methods to counter this Hero.

Method #1: Cannot Be Countered

Several Heroes in Epic Seven have skills that cannot be countered. It’s advised to use these skills to avoid triggering ML Ken’s deadly passive.

Specter Tenebria’s skill one deals massive damage and cannot be countered. Additionally, when Soul Burnt, Specter Tenebria gains an extra turn, allowing you to finish off particularly tanky ML Kens.

Other Heroes that fall into this category are:

• Landy
• Pavel

Method #2: No Critical Hits

ML Ken’s deadly counter triggers whenever he suffers a critical hit. Therefore, using Heroes that do not rely on crits is a surefire way to dispose of him without throwing your valuable units away.

Heroes such as damage-based Sage Baal and Sezan, or Last Rider Krau are excellent choices here.

Other units to consider would be:

• Gunther
• Senya

Additionally, debuffs such as Burns or Bombs are also effective. Heroes such as Researcher Carrot and Seaside Iseria excel in this regard.

Note: A lot of ML Ken builds nowadays favor Effect Resistance. You will need very high Effectiveness on your debuffers in order to land these said debuffs.

Method #3: Debuffs

As mentioned, it’s tricky to land debuffs onto ML Ken.

However, by utilizing Heroes that ignore Effect Resistance or Heroes with very high (200%+) Effectiveness, it’s still possible to cripple ML Ken.

Heroes that can ignore Effect Resistance to CC ML Ken include:

• Elphelt
• Operator Sigret
• Cerise
• Falconer Kluri

Additionally, Heroes that can stun, provoke, blind or inflict multiple other debuffs to ML Ken include:

• Archdemon’s Shadow (ML Mercedes)
• Benevolent Romann
• Crescent Moon Rin
• Dizzy
• Briar Witch Iseria
• Fairytale Tenebria
• Troublemaker Crozet

There are several other Heroes that can inflict debuffs, but these are some of the most effective.

Method #4: Damage Mitigation

If you’re in a situation where you are forced to proc ML Ken’s destructive counter, mitigating the damage might be your best option.

Heroes that can apply party-wide defense buffs (like Alencia) are great in this case.

Speaking of which, Heroes like Adventurer Ras also apply a huge barrier to the ally in the back row when suffering a severe single-target attack.

Invincibility and healing are yet another way to recover or cancel out ML Ken’s damage. Heroes to consider for these effects would be:

• Elena
• Faithless Lidica
• Fallen Cecilia
• Crimson Armin
• Emilia

Method #5: Anti Crit

The Anti Crit buff has seen a resurgence in popularity recently now that Diene and Choux have shifted back into the RTA meta.

Anti Crit is a powerful buff that reduces the chance your Hero will suffer a Critical Hit. This makes ML Ken’s counter a lot less threatening.

Heroes with Anti Crit you may want to consider are as follows:

• Diene
• Mort
• Choux

Method #6: Counter

Counters cannot proc on Counter attacks. Therefore, using ML Ken’s ability against him might just be your best bet.

Eventually, ML Ken will be forced to take a turn. And when he does, your counter units will hopefully trigger their abilities and safely end his life.

Heroes with good Counter attacks are:

• Rem
• Rimuru
• Charles
• Ilynav
• ML Ken
• Seaside Bellona

Tip: Mercedes, once upgraded, can in fact trigger her Magic for Friends ability when the team suffers a Counter attack. This makes her a great damage dealer capable of inflicting huge amounts of damage whenever ML Ken Counters.

Method #7: Evasion

You can’t hit what you can’t see, and Evasion units laugh in the face of ML Ken’s Counter attacking passive.

Notable Evasion units include:

• Violet
• Remnant Violet
• Holiday Yufine
• Mirsa
• Assassin Cartuja
• Kayron (Moonlight Dreamblade)
• Arbiter Vildred (Moonlight Dreamblade)
• Tempest Surin (Moonlight Dreamblade)

Method #8: Masochistic Heroes

Some Heroes in Epic Seven want to be hit.

Whether it be Artifacts that trigger when attacked, or abilities that grow in power when on low health, ML Ken’s Counter could become a blessing in disguise.

• Ruele of Light (Water’s Origin / Idol’s Cheer)

• Lionheart Cermia

Note: While Lionheart Cermia and Roana do not enjoy taking damage directly, her passive will proc when suffering an additional or counterattack. This makes her great into Heroes like ML Ken.
