Events are another great source of Small Sun Badges, as Rare Catalysts can often be exchanged for event currencies or obtained as clear rewards.
The Guild Member Shop and the Guild Aid system also allow you to farm lots of Rare Catalysts in general via Donation requests or Catalyst Chest purchases.
Source #1: Unrecorded History Stage 30. Dalberg Field (Best Source)
Farming Stage 30. Dalberg Field, which is located in the Unrecorded History Side Story mission, will be your best bet if you want to farm Small Sun Badges.
You can only get one other type of Catalyst as a drop in this stage, which raises the chances that you’ll get Small Sun Badges every time you clear the stage.
You should also equip Pets that can increase your AP acquisition rate, as doing so will improve your farming efficiency significantly.
You can buy Small Sun Badges from the Side Story AP Exchange Shop once you’ve accumulated enough Adventure Points by clearing stages in the Unrecorded History.
All Exchange Shops refresh their stocks once every seven days, so make sure you have what you need before the end of every week.
You can purchase up to 20 Small Sun Badges from the Unrecorded History AP Exchange Shop per week, and they’ll cost you 120 AP each.
Source #2: Side Story Events
Story Events are not only fun and packed with free Skystones, Molas, and Gold. They also provide you with a steady influx of Rare and Epic Catalysts!
In fact, you can even get Catalyst Chests as Reputation Rewards in addition to pure Catalysts as buyable items in the Event Currency Exchange Shop. Pretty neat, huh?
All you need to do is farm Event Stages as often as you can for Event Currencies. Generally, the harder the stage you farm, the faster you’ll be able to buy those Catalysts in the Exchange Shop.
Always check if the Catalyst you require is featured in the Side Story quest. They’re fairly easy to farm — especially if you also bring along Pets that increase your Event Currency acquisition rate.
Note: As of Patch 01/26/23, you can now play any Side Story Event you want as long as you’ve already unlocked them.
To unlock Side Story Event Missions, all you need to do is clear Adventure Mode stages. You can only play one Side Story Event at a time.
Choosing or replacing a Side Story requires an item called “Change Ticket”. You are given a Change Ticket once every two weeks.
Source #3: Guild Member Shop
Even for solo players, joining a Guild is highly advisable simply because of the numerous perks you get just from being a part of one.
For example, as a Guild Member, you get to buy all sorts of valuable items and materials in the Guild Member Shop like Catalyst Chests in exchange for Guild Currencies.
The stock of items in this shop also resets once per seven days, so be sure to get as many Catalyst Chests as you can per week.
You can do this by simply clearing Guild Missions, being an active player, and most importantly — donating every single day. Try not to skip donating even once.
Source #4: Guild Aid
If you’re in a Guild that explicitly forbids requesting Catalysts as donations, Guild Aid should be your last resort if you want some Small Sun Badges.
Of course, feel free to request all the Small Sun Badges you want if your Guild allows requesting Rare Catalysts.
Just keep in mind that you can only request up to two Catalysts through the Aid function per day. So you still might have to refer to the other sources above if you need some more.
You can only change the chosen Aid item once a full day has passed so pick what item you want to receive for the day wisely.
Also, if you often find yourself requesting Catalysts via the Aid function, remember to give back to your guildmates and donate some Catalysts as well.
