Queueing up for a duty as an Adventurer in Need will reward you with additional gil and experience points.
You can check what role will be given the “Adventurer in Need” bonus by opening your Duty Finder menu and checking each item in the Duty Roulette section.
The bonus will be determined separately for each roulette.
What is Duty Roulette?

With so many different dungeons, trials, and raids in FFXIV, it may be tough to find a group of random players that are looking to complete the same instance as you.
Duty Roulette helps mitigate the wait time for adventurers, by allowing more seasoned players to queue up for a random duty.
There are several different types of roulettes, with each of them having a set of instances you can join (such as raids or trials).
For example, the Alliance Raids roulette will line you up for one of the twelve 24-man alliance raids.
While the Trials roulette will have you join any of the 8-man fights, excluding the extreme difficulty versions.
The following is a list of the different types of roulettes you can join:
- Leveling
- Trials
- Main Scenario
- Level 50/60/70/80
- Expert
- Guildhests
- Alliance Raids
- Normal Raids
- Mentor
- Daily Challenge: Frontline
The first duty roulettes you can unlock are guildhests and leveling.
The guildhest roulette is unlocked simply by completing two guildhests, while the leveling roulette is unlocked after completing the second dungeon “Tam-Tara Deepcroft”, which you’ll do in the level 16 Main Scenario Quest “Fire in the Gloom”.
And the rewards for completing a roulette offer some combination of experience points, gil, Grand Company seals, and tomestones. But the amount varies for each.
These bonuses can be obtained once a day, and they’re reset every 10AM EST.
Additional Rewards from “Adventurer in Need”
Rewards for being an Adventurer in Need are given on top of the rewards for using the Duty Roulette.
While the duty roulette bonuses can only be obtained once daily, you can get the Adventurer in Need rewards any number of times, as long as you fit the requirements.
You can get even more of being an Adventurer in Need by queuing up for the needed role with a job that’s level 80 and above, specifically for the Leveling and Alliance Raid roulettes.
Doing this will give you a couple relevant rewards:
- x1 cracked anthocluster
- x2 cracked dendroclusters
These clusters are exchanged for materia from certain NPCs.
Anthoclusters can be exchanged for Tier X material, while dendroclusters can be exchanged for Tier IX.
And for the NPC locations, dendroclusters and anthoclusters can be exchanged with Khuzhal or Aucyn (coordinates below):
- Khuzhal in Radz-at-Han (X:11.3, Y:8.6)
- Aucyn in Old Sharlayan (X:12.7, Y:10.1)
