(Learn more).Buffalo milk can only be obtained through purchase, and you can buy this from various NPC vendors found throughout the game for 4 gil apiece. Each of the three starting cities has one of these vendors, so you will be able to purchase the milk as soon as you start playing!
Here is a list of these NPC’s with their locations:

Any Other Ways To Get It?
The only other way to get buffalo milk (aside from these vendors) is the market board. And since these NPC’s have a monopoly on this ingredient, any buffalo milk you might see on the market board came from them as well.
So you might as well cut out the middleman and buy directly from the supplier.
At this point you’re probably thinking, “well what about desynthesis?”
While it is true that desynthesizing items gives you a chance at obtaining components used to craft the original item, buffalo milk is used primarily in culinarian recipes.
Why is that an issue?
Well, culinarian is unique in that the only items they’re able to desynthesize are raw fish.
A lot of crazy things go on in FFXIV. But if I found some buffalo milk in a raw fish, I’d be ready to face savage-tier bosses to get an explanation.
Uses For Buffalo Milk
Like I mentioned above, buffalo milk is mainly used in culinarian recipes.
The items you can craft from these recipes are meals, which when used, grant various stat buffs and a 3% increase in experience points for 30 minutes.
Here’s a list of what you can craft with buffalo milk as a culinarian:
- Rolanberry Shaved Ice (Level 5)
- Sweet Cream (Level 6)
- Smooth Butter (Level 7)
- Bubble Chocolate (Level 12)
- Walnut Bread (Level 18)
- Crumpet (Level 28)
- Cornbread (Level 31)
- La Noscean Toast (Level 45)
- Baklava (Level 61)
- Rarefied Baklava (Level 62 Collectable)
The Culinarians’ Guild can be found in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, and is also known as “The Bismarck”. It has its own aetheryte shard that will take you right outside the establishment.
To become a culinarian, you can speak with their receptionist at (X:10.0, Y:8.0) after completing your first level 10 class quest.
Sometimes though, all you really want is a warm glass of milk.
And you can definitely just use the item as-is.
Consuming one buffalo milk will give you a +1 to vitality, which is quite negligible, but it will also give you the same 3% bonus to gained experience for 30 minutes.
This is a fantastic option to consider when you want to level a job fast and don’t really care about the stat buffs.
