FFXIV Hardsilver Ore Guide: Location & Uses

Hardsilver ore can be obtained by miners in the Dravanian Hinterlands at the Maker’s Quarter (X:25.3, Y:25.0). You first gain access to this area through the level 58 Heavensward Main Scenario Quest, “A Great New Nation”.

But before you start looking for mineral deposits after reaching this zone, just note that hardsilver ores are hidden items.

This means you need to use the level 55 action “Luck of the Mountaineer” to detect it inside a node.

Another thing to keep in mind is that each hidden item you find won’t always be the one you’re looking for. If this is the case, you can just move on and look for the next deposit.

These NPCs can be found in the following locations:

  • Gridania – The Lavender Beds (X:11.9, Y:8.3)
  • Limsa Lominsa – Mist (X:11.0, Y:11.4)
  • Ul’dah – The Goblet (X:10.9, Y:8.9)
  • Kugane – Shirogane (X:10.5, Y:12.1)

  • Ul’dah – Sultana’s Breath Apartment Lobby (X:6.1, Y:6.0)
  • Kugane – Kobai Goten Apartment Lobby (X:6.1, Y:6.0)

You can get Althyk Lavenders by planting their seeds in a flowerpot or a garden bed, and tending to them until they’re ready for harvest.

Althyk lavender seeds are purchased with either company credits (300 each) from Resident Caretakers found in each of the residential districts, or with company seals (500 each) from the different Grand Company Quartermasters.

Levequests & Ventures For Hardsilver Ore

Level 56 tradecraft levequests can also be a source of hardsilver ore, though this may not be as consistent.

It’s possible to get the ore for completing these quests, but the rewards do change somewhat randomly.

The NPC that gives out these tradecraft levequests is Eloin who can be found in the Arc of the Humble in the Foundation. Simply take the Skysteel Manufactory aetheryte and walk east a bit to find him at the coordinates (X:10.2, Y:10.4).

Here’s a quick list of level 56 levequests from Eloin that can potentially hand out hardsilver ore as a reward:

  • Appeasing the Astromancer
  • Man with a Dragon Earring (L)
  • Needs More Prayerbell
  • Silver Bar of Upcycling (L)
  • The Grander Temple
  • With a Noise That Reaches Heaven (L)

If you’re busy tackling the MSQ or raiding with your static, you can also send your retainers out to gather hardsilver ore for you.

To do this, your retainer needs to be at least a level 58 miner with decent gear equipped.

If you really need a large amount of ore, I would suggest sending out your retainers to gather some while you’re also out farming some yourself.

And you can even choose hardsilver ore specifically for one of the level 58 Mining Exploration Ventures. This takes about 40 to 60 minutes, and can yield between 7 to 30 pieces of ore per run.

Hardsilver ore is used in the level 56 goldsmithing recipe for hardsilver ingots.

To craft one ingot, you’ll need:

  • 4 hardilver ores
  • 1 hardsilver nugget
  • 5 wind crystals

These ingots are then used in a variety of recipes across all crafting jobs except culinarian.

The items created with these recipes range from weapons to furnishings to armor sets, such as the Titanium armor sets of fending or maiming (pictured above).

A hardsilver ingot is also required to complete the level 55 Goldsmith class quest “Double Trouble”.
