FFXIV: How To Get The Eurekan Petrel Mount

(Learn more). The Eurekan Petrel Mount is obtained rarely from Gold Coffers inside “The Forbidden Land Eureka: Hydatos”. Gold Coffers are obtained by completing the FATE “Drink Me” inside Hydatos.
This sometimes rewards you with a Happy Bunny, which will lead you to treasure in various locations. That treasure coffer has a chance to be either Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
Gold is the only type that will contain a Eurekan Petrel Horn.
That said, the FATE is easy to complete and spawns frequently. Unfortunately there are two more layers of RNG to combat for your Mount.
It can take some time to get your elusive reward, but it is well worth the effort.
Getting Into The Forbidden Zone
Gaining access to Eureka isn’t much of a process.
You’ll simply need to have completed the level 70 Main Scenario Quest “Stormblood”.
Over in Rhalgr’s Reach to seek out Galiena (Rhalgr’s Reach – Chakra Falls, X:10 Y:12).
She’ll have the Quest “And We Shall Call It Eureka”.
From there head to Kugane to chat with Kotokaze (Kugane – Tasogare Bridge, X:10 Y:10) and they’ll direct you to Pier #1. Rendezvous with your old friend Gerolt here.
As always, he’s indebted to Rowena, and is now enlisted to help with your Eurekan ventures.
This will unlock the first Zone: The Forbidden Land, Eureka Anemos.
And this is the first of four separate areas.
The bad news is that you’ll have to grind your way through all of them to unlock Hydatos.
The good news is that there’s a ton of treasure to be found along the way. From Relic Weapons and Armor to other unique Mounts and Glamour!
Leveling in Eureka uses a separate system entirely from the Main game.
The Elemental Leveling system functions along with the Magia Board to offer a bit more restrictive experience. You’ll need to grind Notorious Monsters while managing an Elemental Weakness system.
Elemental Weaknesses function a bit like they did in older Final Fantasy Titles.
You’ll need to manage your wheel properly to efficiently deal damage or Tank in the Zones.
With that in mind, you can always look for a quick group to grind with both inside and out.
If the Relic Quest doesn’t concern you, then you can safely ignore it in pursuit of your Eurekan Petrel.
However, you will need to complete Quests inside Eureka at the following Levels: 1, 3, 5, 9, 13, and 17.
After completing the Level 17 Quest from Krile, you’ll unlock “And We Shall Call it Pagos” from Rodney (Kugane – Pier #1, X:8 Y:14).
The next step is to grind out the Icy Pagos Zone, completing Quests at Levels: 17, 21, 23, 25, 29 and 35.
Once again, speak with Rodney for the Quest “And We Shall Call it Pyros”.
The Zone will immediately unlock for you.
This is the final area you’ll need to finish entirely to start farming for your Eurekan Petrel!
So just complete Quests at the following Levels: 35, 38, 40, 45, and 50.
Finally after all that, you’ll speak to Rodney for a final time and accept “And We Shall Call it Hydatos”.
This unlocks the final zone – congratulations!
