The Fledgeling Apkallu Minion is a reward for completing the in-game achievement “Out of Sight Out of Mind”. You’ll get this achievement once you’ve finished entries 1-80 from the Sightseeing Log.

First added back in Patch 2.28 of A Realm Reborn, the Sightseeing Log is required for this Achievement. It functions as a sort of riddle and touring mini-game.

You’ll be required to find Vistas and capture them using various commands. Usually /lookout, but others like /pray or /kneel are also required.

New Vistas are added with each new expansion, some even incorporating complex jumping puzzles.

Your first step towards the Fledgeling Apkallu Minion is unlocking your Sightseeing Log.

It’ll require you to complete the Main Story Quest “Sylph Management”. Head to the Black Shroud and seek out Naoh Gamduhla (New Gridania – Carline Canopy, X:11 Y:13) to pick up the Level 20 Quest “A Sight to Behold”.

It’s relatively short and introduces you to the commonly used /lookout command.

Setting Your Sights on Eorzea

With the Sightseeing Log unlocked, you’re prepared to take in the Vistas of Eorzea.

But as you can see, only the first 20 will be available immediately to you.

You’ll need to complete these in order to unlock the final 40 in A Realm Reborn. It’ll also unlock the Expansion Vistas, but those don’t get you a sweet Minion.

The other thing that can make these a bit difficult is that certain entries in the Log require special circumstances. These range from special weather patterns to specific time of day. Yay!

The locations aren’t marked either – you’ll need to look for a message saying “You’ve arrived at a vista!”

We’ll break down the first 20 for you, to give you an idea of how they work.

With these completed, you’ll unlock the rest of the Vistas required for the Fledgeling Apkallu Minion. And they get more obscure and complicated as you go.

But hopefully seeing these solutions gives you an idea of how the riddles work.

Also if you’re having trouble with the weather, remember it can change three times a day. Those times would be (all on Eorzean Time):

  • 12:05 AM
  • 8:05 AM
  • 4:05 PM

Yes, this means you could be waiting literal days for the right pattern to show up at the right time.

Keeping that in mind, you’ll need quite a bit of persistence and time to complete the first 80 entries in your Log.

Keep at it, and eventually you’ll be taking in the sights of Eorzea with your Fledgling Apkallu minion!
