(Learn more). The Step Dance emote is unlocked by completing the side quest “Good for What Ales You”. To begin this quest, you must first be on a job that is at least level 14 and speak to Dodozan in the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks at (X:7.4, Y:12.3).
If you started the game in Limsa Lominsa, you’ll need to have progressed your MSQ up to the level 15 quest “The Lominsan Envoy”. If you started in any of the other starting cities, you will have the MSQ requirement already fulfilled once you gain access to Limsa Lominsa.
“Good for What Ales You” Walkthrough
After accepting the quest from Dodozan, you’ll be tasked with speaking to the people in Fisherman’s Bottom. You’ll need to find 3 NPCs within the highlighted portion of your mini map.
While these NPCs won’t be marked on your map, they will have quest markers above their heads when they appear on your screen. Here are the exact locations for each of the NPCs you need to talk to for this part of the quest:
NPC | Location |
---|---|
Preoccupied Porter | Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:7.8, Y:15.3) |
Affable Angler | Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:7.8, Y:14.8) |
Small-boned Seller | Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:8.1, Y:14.9) |
Once you’ve spoken to all 3 NPCs, the next step is to speak with the young Executioner. You can find this NPC on the deck of the Astalicia, which is at Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:6.0, Y:15.0).
After your encounter with the young Executioner, return to Dodozan at his spot in the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:7.4, Y:12.3). Speak to Dodozan to end the quest and the Step Dance emote will be available for you to perform.
Using the Step Dance Emote
Unlike some emotes in the game, the Step Dance does not require the use of a “Ballroom Etiquette” item. You will be able to perform it immediately after completing “Good for What Ales You”.
To do the Step Dance, type /stepdance into your chat bar.
The phrase “You perform a merry step dance” will appear in the general chat log.
