Before the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2013 made it our collective dream to hit Los Santos, most of us just wanted to go to Hogwarts.

Going from being obsessed with magic and magic schools to crime and gangsters sounds worrying, but it was the logical progression for an aging fandom.

Still, none of us will ever forget Harry Potter – and mods grant us a unique opportunity to bring some of JK Rowling’s magic into Los Santos.

5. The Weasley’s Ford Anglia (1959)

Of all the weird magical occurrences in JK Rowling’s epic series, nothing left such a lasting impact in my young brain as the Weasley’s old Ford Anglia flying through the sky.

The idea of flying around in an old – if well-maintained – piece of junk was simply exhilarating. It’s handled incredibly well in the film adaptation of the Chamber of Secrets (2002).

The Ford Anglia returns for a different adventure in Grand Theft Auto 5 thanks to this high-quality mod.

This add-on focuses on the car’s iconic appearance rather than its performance. In other words, it won’t fly straight out of the box. Still, it’s nothing a good trainer can’t fix.

4. Harry Potter Wand

Casting magic without a wand is like riding a bike with no hands or legs. It’s not entirely impossible, but it’s inefficient and might end badly.

That’s why, before making the Ford Anglia capable of flight, you should get a wand to replace the shotguns and SMGs in your magically large pockets.

You’ll notice that your player character is a total bad-ass who holds the want like a gun. It might sound ridiculous, but it looks surprisingly cool.

“Shooting” with this “gun” will spray your enemies with spells like Avada Kedavra. In that sense, its effects as the same as a regular gun’s.

3. Voldemort Spells

Lesser wizards might see the dark spells and flying cars and decide to call it a day.

But a true Los Santos criminal mastermind might have something else in mind.

To rule the city’s seedy underbelly, you need much more than a flying car and a magic gun. You need real power: the power of a Dark Lord.

This mod introduces a range of massively destructive spells you’d expect from Voldemort himself.

Your fearsome new powers include massive magic shockwaves that send trucks and tanks flying high up in the sky and chaotic explosions that’ll destroy everything in a 10m radius.

2. Nimbus 2016

Riding a Ford Anglia that can start flying at any moment is nice and practical for a wizard that lives among muggles, such as your GTA 5 character.

Still, your wizarding friends will never take you seriously unless you ride a high-performance broomstick.

Fans of the Harry Potter series will remember the Nimbus 2000, the updated Nimbus 2001, and other famous models such as the Firebolt and Firebolt Supreme.

This mod introduces a fictional model – the Nimbus 2016 – retaining the basic structure of a Nimbus but with a wealth of upgrades derived from broomstick racing under the hood (wherever that is on a broom).

1. Harry Potter Character Pack

Now that you have all the equipment, it’s time to teach you how to brew a good Polyjuice Potion.

After all, hiding your true identity might be the most practical use of magic for a criminal such as yourself.

In Grand Theft Auto 5, all you need to brew a Polyjuice Potion is the Harry Potter Character Pack.

With it, you’ll be able to change your appearance to Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, a massive troll, and – of course – a couple versions of The Boy Who Lived.

These blend into the aesthetic of Grand Theft Auto 5 surprisingly well, and you’ll definitely have more fun with these than playing the mediocre Deathly Hallows game the models came from.
