KH2.5 Lightning Crystal Farming: Where To Get & Common Uses

Lightning Crystals are dropped by the Devastator and Strafer Heartless, both found in Space Paranoids & some locations in Radiant Garden.

Since these heartless appear all over Space Paranoids, you can farm them pretty much anywhere in that world. The drop rates are fairly low (4% for Devastator, 6% for Strafer) but with enough time you can stash plenty away.

These crystals can be used to synthesize Power Boosts and Defense Boosts.

Lightning Crystal Locations (KH2 & KH2.5)

The main locations you want to aim for are Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden, and Space Paranoids.

And here’s the two enemies you want to seek out for lightning crystals:

Devastator: These are the big rounded machine-looking guys with purple rings around their four legs. Don’t be intimidated by the size of these monsters, though, they’re easy to take down.

And they’ll have a 4% chance to drop a crystal.

These guys can be found throughout Hollow Bastion, and in the Canyon, Dataspace, and I/O Tower Hallway areas in Space Paranoids.

Strafer: These are the heartless with thin bodies and yellow circuitry running around their arms & legs. Strike down these lanky boys with swiftness, and each defeat has a 6% chance to drop a crystal.

Search for them in basically the same locations mentioned above: Hollow Bastion, and in the Canyon and Solar Sailer Simulation in Space Paranoids.

But the best place to farm lightning crystals has to be Space Paranoids.

Just run around the world and take out as many Devastators & Strafers as possible. You’ll earn plenty of drops along the way.

Lightning Crystal Uses

Lightning Crystals are only used in two recipes in KH2(and KH2.5):

Defense Boost – As you might guess, the Defense Boost will boost a character’s defense stat by +1 point.

You can begin to synthesize these after obtaining the Guard Recipe, and will need x1 Mythril Crystal, x3 Blazing Crystals, x3 Lightning Crystals, and x3 Lucid Crystals.

Power Boost – This is the upgraded version of a Defense Boost recipe, so it will need the same ingredients with an added Serenity Crystal at a LVL3 Moogle. It’ll boost your strength stat by +1.

Are Lightning Crystals Worth Farming?

Unless you really need some boosted strength or defense, I wouldn’t recommend farming too long for these crystals.

Chances are you’ll naturally come across enough to add to your ingredients collection anyways.

So it’ll be up to you to decide if you want to grind for stat boosts or not (also worth considering if you want to grind for lightning crystals to boost Donald & Goofy’s stats as well).
