Kayle’s Best Skins in League of Legends (All Ranked)

There are few things in League of Legends as terrifying as a level 16 Kayle.

You laughed at her during the early game when she got outdamaged by a minion. But this angel of death is now on a killing spree, and you’re next on her grudge list.

Luckily, she has some amazing skins. So as a Kayle player, you get something pretty to look at while you wait for your power spike – and as a person facing Kayle, you can pull a Thanos and fall in love with death to make the ordeal a bit easier.

But what’s the best Kayle skin to use?

That’s what we’ll try to figure in this ranking of every Kayle skin, taking into account their designs, overall appeal, and price tags.

And to be frank, Kayle doesn’t really have any bad skins. So be prepared for a lot of nitpicks.

13. Riot Kayle

Released: August 12th, 2014
Price: 975 RP

I’m putting Riot Kayle in last place for this ranking for a few reasons.

First off, two other skins offer a very futuristic, robotic-look for Kayle. And they do it significantly better.

I will say that the wings here are absolutely gorgeous, with the propellers being quite the nice touch. But she does look somewhat wonky overall.

The design for her head past level 11 feels a bit bland, and the police thematic doesn’t seem as present as it should.

It’s among the cheaper skins that Kayle has to offer – and still does bring some good stuff to the table too, like new animations and sound effects.

12. Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Kayle

Released: September 9th, 2021
Price: 1350 RP

I already know that I’m going to get a lot of pushback for this one, but hear me out.

Just because it’s a newer skin doesn’t mean it’s the best.

Kayle already has a Pentakill skin, and it simply does the job better in my opinion.

The Lost Chapter version definitely looks cool, especially after level 11, but it doesn’t make me feel like a rockstar.

Were it branded along the lines of “Gothic Kayle” and had the sound effects changed, I would have absolutely loved it. But as a Pentakill skin it feels lacking.

I’ll go into more detail once we get to the original Pentakill Kayle further up the list.

11. Viridian Kayle

Released: June 1st, 2010
Price: 520 RP

The beautiful thing about Kayle skins is that even a simple base redesign goes a really long way.

Whether they like it or not, Riot has to give her multiple forms to demonstrate her passive. And gamers’ wallets everywhere cheer for the occasion.

Viridian Kayle is a very simple skin that takes the base character model, and just makes it high fantasy as hell.

You get some sweet green and gold armor, some elf ears, and wings that look like they were ripped straight off a fairy’s back.

Even the sword design is pretty top notch.

Most of the time, a skin like this would be in the top three for me. It offers so much for such a low price.

But Kayle’s aesthetic can go so far beyond just being an elf.

10. Transcended Kayle

Released: July 13th, 2010
Price: 975 RP

I’m a little torn with this skin, as it doesn’t do too much, and yet it works so well.

It’s a simple character model redesign that offers no new animations whatsoever.

And even as redesigns go, this one isn’t all that memorable.

The main selling point for this skin, formerly known as “Unmasked Kayle”, was that you could see her face.

Well guess what?

That’s almost all of her skins now.

Transcended Kayle just looks like a slightly polished base model Kayle with a pretty dope splash art. However, it also plays extremely well.

I can’t really explain, but playing with this skin just feels smooth – which is why I bumped it up a bit in this tier list.

9. Silver Kayle

Released: November 13th, 2009
Price: Special Pricing

Kayle has not one, but two extremely rare skins that you’ll only have if you’re a true veteran.

Or colluded with the cyber mafia.

Silver Kayle is the weaker link of the two in my mind, as the theme isn’t all that clear.

You start off with a pretty cool warrior helmet and look like an NPC guarding heaven. But you end up as a pretty generic angel character.

Once the helmet is removed, you’re just some angel chick with white hair causing casual genocide.

It’s still a very cool design, don’t get me wrong. But praying to Riot Jesus and sacrificing a goat to get this skin just doesn’t seem worth the hassle.

8. Iron Inquisitor Kayle

Released: May 4th, 2016
Price: 750 RP

I already said how simple character model redesigns go a long way with this champion – and Iron Inquisitor Kayle is a prime example.

The skin is pretty dark and edgy, with Kayle rocking those raven black wings tipped with gold, and even a Liandry’s Torment mask in order to bring the skin home.

I truly do love this skin though. It gives me that “death god” vibe I’ve been searching for.

The fact that the mask always stays on just makes her look a bit more mysterious. And her wings switching to red at later levels makes me feel like a warlord.

I don’t hear Kayle mains praising this skin all that often.

But if you’re looking for a budget skin, I would highly recommend this one.

7. Pentakill Kayle

Released: August 8th, 2017
Price: 1350 RP

When I hear guitar riffs and see head-banging afoot, this is the type of skin I imagine, not Lost Chapter.

When you start the game, you just look like some random rock fan that also happened to sport a pair of wings.

But as the game goes on, you feel more like a murdering rockstar.

Her hair goes from black and yellow, to just straight yellow. Your wings start burning with a distinct red color as well – and your abilities go from casual play to funeral music.

Unlike Lost Chapter, all of the sound cues make perfect sense with the skin at every point in the game – making this one my go-to heavy metal skin.

6. Battleborn Kayle

Released: April 18th, 2011
Price: 975 RP

If you love Skyrim and Vikings, this should be right up your alley.

It emphasizes Kayle’s position as a warrior a bit more than the other skins, giving her a massive sword, Nordic-styled armor, and some rather unique wings.

Instead of going the usual angel route, Battleborn Kayle looks more feral and grizzled. Which is quite a good change of pace.

Her entire design just makes you feel like you’re part of the Valkyries, sending out one-way tickets to Valhalla in the late game as if they were McDonald’s coupons.

5. Judgement Kayle

Released: August 22nd, 2011
Price: Special Pricing

Judgement Kayle is so rare that it just feels like the ultimate flex whenever you pull it out during a game.

It’s like a badge of honor for season 1 League players that actually managed to clock in ten games or more.

And man, does it look amazing.

I know I talked about being an angel of death quite a few times now. But this skin just is that aesthetic.

It’s almost completely black, with some raven wings and a full set of armor rigged with spikes.

The character model is just perfect, honestly.

And then you see the splash art and you’re even more amazed.

But just like with Silver Kayle, I do also have to take into account just how many rituals you’d need to ever land this baby, leaving it a bit short compared to the rest of this ranking.

4. PsyOps Kayle

Released: September 17th, 2020
Price: 1350 RP

This skin & the next skin are both on the expensive side, and take a shot at the futuristic aesthetic with great results.

However, PsyOps is my least favorite of the two.

The skin does look quite good, with the wings especially stealing the show with their neon styled design.

TikTokers would love it, no doubt.

And the mask you get early-game fits the whole look perfectly.

However, the problem arises once the mask is off.

It might just be me, but her head does look slightly off, especially from a distance.

That’s my only real gripe with the skin, honestly. It is in the final three, after all, but I could see it being a personal #1 choice for some players.

3. Aether Wing Kayle

Released: January 18th, 2013
Price: 1820 RP

For years I’ve looked at this skin like the peak of Riot’s design team.

It was the absolute go-to for Kayle mains, and still holds up incredibly well even today.

I don’t even know how to explain it – but playing this skin makes you feel like a cross between a futuristic angel and some type of dragon overlord.

The wing design is absolutely flawless, with little parts of the wings constantly moving while you fly around. And this skin has the most distinct transformation animations out of any Kayle skin.

Having the two little pieces fly at your side post-level 11 feels way cooler than it should. And the swords look like they were ripped straight out of Halo, which is always a plus.

The only real reason this skin is not at the number one spot for me personally, is the fact that it’s the most expensive skin in Kayle’s arsenal, while covering a theme that you can get with other skins.

Still, insanely good.

2. Sun-Eater Kayle

Released: April 28th, 2022
Price: 1350 RP

To start off, can we all just stop and appreciate how badass the title “Sun-Eater” is? It’s physically impossible not to sound like an absolute monster with a name like that!

And then you take a look at that splash art and get even more hyped!

Now that you’re all greased up, it’s time to take a look at the in-game model.

Overall, I’d say it’s pretty phenomenal.

It feels like a darker reimagining of Kayle’s original design, so it’s both new and somewhat familiar. Your Q feels rather impactful, your E looks cool as hell, and your ult is just divine punishment for the enemy. So far, so good!

However, I carry a bit of spite when talking about this skin. This is because lore-wise, Sun-Eater Kayle was supposed to be the main antagonist of the entire event, and yet she couldn’t even land a legendary!

And this is quite significant as it means no new voice lines! Needless to say, it feels a bit odd listening about righteousness from a literal demon.

I also have to point out that your level 16 transformation is a bit underwhelming. Exactly why Riot decided against making your wings go up in flames (like in the splash art) is beyond me.

Sun-Eater Kayle is definitely really good. However, it could’ve been a lot better if Riot just gave it a bit more love.

1. Dragonslayer Kayle

Released: April 15th, 2021
Price: 1350 RP

Dragonslayer Kayle is just completely unique.

While all the other skins went for that angel or futuristic warrior angle, this skin just went full dragon.

And it all works together perfectly.

The dragon wings are incredibly detailed, and become quite the badass factor late into the game. The horns just look badass too.

And even the little details, such as the fire hands she has going on, add to an incredible overall design.

This skin also has some new animations and sound cues, throwing away the angelic singing and/or head banging and replacing it with fire and dragon roars.

Even the splash art is among the best in her catalogue!

So even though Sun-Eater Kayle is thematically more suitable, and Aether Wing is the OG legendary – I have to give it up for Dragonslayer!
