6. PROJECT: Pyke

Released: August 1st, 2019
Price: 1820 RP

Although I can’t say this skin is bad by any means, I have to admit that it’s my least favorite out of the bunch.

First off, the character model is just underwhelming for a legendary skin.

Sure, you have the usual high-tech aesthetic with your blade and shoulder pieces. But the rest looks somewhat bland.

Plus the visuals and sound effects also come off as a bit mediocre, as they feel exactly the same like every other PROJECT skin. Which again isn’t bad, but you would expect a bit more for such an expensive skin.

Sure, PROJECT: Pyke does offer completely new emotes, with the dance emote being by far the most badass – as well as a pretty epic backing animation.

But I just don’t think it makes up for the rest.

The skin does also have a new voice, home-guard, and death animation, but none of them are all that interesting if you ask me.

Overall, this is a competent skin. And it can be a valid choice if you want the biggest flex.

But I think the others in Pyke’s library give you a much better bang for your buck.

5. Sand Wraith Pyke

Released: May 31st, 2018
Price: 1350 RP

Even though I’m placing this skin far down in the ranking, I have to give Riot props here – as they rarely nail a release skin as well as they did this one.

The sand bandit theme fits Pyke like a stolen glove. And the character model is everything you could want it to be.

Especially since it has a hood and hoods automatically make any skin cooler.

All of your usual ability particles have been replaced with sand, which really ties the whole think together. And your new backing animation just makes you feel like the cockiest and most powerful bandit to have ever roamed the Earth.

Or like Dio for that matter.

The skin also offers a voice filter, bonus voice lines, and most importantly, the only true pink chroma.

The only nitpick that I have is that your W still has sharks circling your enemy, which feels a bit off.

Nevertheless, it’s an amazing skin that’s only placed this low because of how even more amazing the others are.

4. Blood Moon Pyke

Released: January 10th, 2019
Price: 1350 RP

Everything about Blood Moon Pyke is so beautifully cursed.

Your knife has blood constantly dripping off, which is bound to give you the intimidation factor.

Your W indicator has demonic Poros circle your enemy, and the soundtrack on both your fifth ult and backing animation just screams samurai massacre.

The character model is also completely based, with that cool skull devil mask arguably being the high point for me personally. And all of your new particles are crisp and demonic.

Plus, you have to appreciate how seamlessly you can substitute water for blood effects without losing a hint of immersion.

Overall, this is just an amazing skin with a great theme, distinct sound effects, good particles, and plenty of nightmares.

I definitely recommend this one if you’re a weeb as well, because let’s face it: we’re suckers for this kind of thing.

3. Sentinel Pyke

Released: July 22nd, 2021
Price: 1350 RP

Sentinel Pyke is one of the newer skins to hit the shelves, and is therefore expectedly flawless in terms of performance.

The character model has a really nice noble vigilante vibe going for it, with the iconic mix of white, black, and gold, really hammering down the Sentinel aesthetic.

Your ability particles are as clean and crisp as they come, too. With the R being my personal favorite part – as it literally feels easier to land than on any other skin.

I also really like what Riot did with the W, as it perfectly threads that line of creepy and oddly beautiful.

The new backing animation has you fight your inner demons, as most Sentinel skins do, and the chroma selection is rather decent all around.

I was considering putting this skin in the top spot, since it seems like the most polished one out of the bunch.

But since I think our other top skins are a bit more appropriate in terms of the original champion fantasy, Sentinel will have to settle for this spot.

2. PsyOps Pyke

Released: September 17th, 2020
Price: 1350 RP

PsyOps Pyke pretty much takes something that I liked from every previous entry, and combines it into one masterpiece.

It has a hood just like Sand Wraith, a futuristic feel like PROJECT, an overwhelming edge-lord approval rate like Blood Moon, and the demonic possession of Sentinel.

That last one is only visible in his new backing animation, but it still counts.

The skin just makes you feel like the badass merciless assassin you always knew you were – and all of the new animations and particles fit in together perfectly.

Honestly, the character model alone would have already sold me on the concept.

But the fact that your fifth ult also blasts dubstep on full volume really just makes this a no-brainer.

Overall, it thematically seems like the most natural fit for our Lethality-loving lollygagger. And the design team answered all of my prayers.

So I can confidently say this is my favorite Pyke skin out of the bunch… At least, that’s how I initially felt. But then a certain skin came out and blew every other Pyke skin out of the water.

1. Ashen Knight Pyke

Released: March 30th, 2022
Price: 125 Mythic Essence

Skins that cost Mythic Essence are almost never worth it if you ask me. But this one is the golden exception.

Everything about this skin is just brilliant.

The splash art gives off some serious final boss vibes, and the character model perfectly lives up to that hype. Just look at that armor!

Your backing animation feels like the conclusion of an epic story and your abilities are just next level. I especially like the new E, as it feels way more impactful than before. But of course, the ult is where Pyke skins have to shine the brightest. And I’m happy to say that this skin knocked it out of the park.

Not only do you get angelic wings when you cast your R, but you also get an entire choir if you get a kill. And for each person that you manage to execute, the music only gets more and more intense.

I can’t stress enough just how amazing this feature is. You feel like divine punishment incarnate and no other skin can even come close to that level of hype.

If I were to nitpick, my only grudge with the skin would be that there’re no new voice lines. Usually, that doesn’t bother me all that much, but this skin has nothing to do with Pyke’s original theme.

And it’s a bit weird hearing this angel of death consistently talk about salty water or whatever.

Nevertheless, it’s a very tiny stain on an otherwise perfect product.
