But only a few could become a classic.
Fullmetal Alchemist has long breached that status, with the 2009 anime considered as one of the greatest anime series of all time and the manga selling over 80 million copies.
The tale of the two brothers’ search for the Philosopher’s Stone introduced the brutal world of alchemy and how nothing’s gained without losing something in return.
Here are the characters that made FMA a beloved piece of art – all of which can fit perfectly into Minecraft.
1. Edward Elric
Edward Elric is the titular protagonist of the series and is regarded as a genius over his mastery of alchemical arts.
But despite being a prodigy, Edward and his brother still attempted to perform Human Transmutation to revive their dead mother.
The attempt cost him a leg and an arm which were subsequently replaced with automail.
These steel prostheses then gained him the title “Fullmetal Alchemist,” and the rest was history.
Put your hands together for Ed as he enters Minecraft’s pixelated world.
2. Alphonse Elric
If you think Edward got it bad, then Alphonse Elric had it waaaay worse.
Alphonse is the younger brother of Edward who lost his whole body during the Human Transmutation attempt.
The only thing left was his soul which Edward bound to a steel armor in a desperate act to save what remains of his brother.
You’d think a person who got his physical form taken away would turn insane, yet Alphonse remained kindhearted and selfless despite his loss.

3. Winry Rockbell
Winry’s role in Edward’s life isn’t limited to just being his love interest.
At the tender age of eleven, she built Edward’s steel prostheses and has worked to keep them in tip-top condition over the years.
It’s only fitting to call her a prodigy, and Edward’s damn lucky to have Winry by his side since then and until now.
4. Van Hohenheim
It’s crazy that Edward and Alphonse’s father has been around for centuries and that his blood was used to create the series’ main antagonist.
He was there when Father, the first Homunculus, was born, and he was there when the latter sacrificed a million lives to grant them both immortality.
Hohenheim was another victim of malicious alchemy, but that didn’t stop him from finding true love and having a family – even if it’s just for a short while.
5. Roy Mustang
Roy Mustang is one of the most popular characters in the series mainly because he’s a genuine badass.
With a snap of his fingers, he can incinerate enemies with powerful fire-based attacks.
One such example that’s forever burned in my mind is when he barbecued Envy, a Homunculi, to oblivion.
Not only did he single-handedly defeat a Homunculus, but he repeated the same feat when he beat Lust.
This man is not only a hero of war, but also a hero of the whole series if you ask me.
6. Scar
One could mistake Scar as the true Samurai X due to the large X-shaped scar on his forehead.
But their history couldn’t be more different – as a survivor of the Ishval Civil War, Scar made it his life’s mission to eliminate State Alchemists for revenge.
He even targeted the Elric brothers for a while, but they eventually became his allies after understanding who the true enemies were.
The best thing about Scar, though?
He managed to come out alive and win against Wrath, one of the biggest baddies in the series.

7. King Bradley
King Bradley’s real identity as Wrath was one of the biggest plot twists in Fullmetal Alchemist.
But I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise considering he was called Führer.
For years, King Bradley ruled and expanded Amestris to secretly enact Father’s plan in sacrificing the nation’s lives to create a Philosopher’s Stone.
He perfectly embodied his sin by enabling bloodshed and countless wars, but in the end, even Wrath failed to survive Scar’s need for justice.
8. Pride
In Fullmetal Alchemist, you never really know who’s friend or foe, but I certainly didn’t expect King Bradley’s adopted son to be the latter.
Selim Bradley was revealed to be Pride, the first Homunculus ever created by Father and his second-in-command.
Hard to believe a little boy would be the strongest out of a bunch of scary-looking Homunculi, but that’s anime for you.
9. Lust
Despite what her sin implies, Lust craved chaos and violence rather than a steamy date.
Nicknamed as the Ultimate Spear, Lust was equipped with sharp claws that would give Wolverine a run for his money.
However, even with the power of rapid regeneration and superhuman agility, she was quickly defeated by Roy Mustang.
Her death was agonizing to watch, but any ally of Father is undeserving of mercy.
10. Envy
Envy’s sole purpose of existing was to make humans suffer, and he took great pride in this when he boasted of his role in starting the Ishval Civil War.
But what really got people on edge was when he killed Maes Hughes with no remorse.
This would push Roy Mustang to a breaking point, leading him to burn away Envy’s human form until he’s nothing but a tiny creature who was jealous of humans all along.
