How Do You Make Botanical Pies in OSRS?

To make a Botanical Pie you’ll need the following:

  • Pastry dough (Pot of flour and water)
  • A pie dish
  • A Golovanova fruit top

For skill requirements, you’ll need at least level 52 Cooking, and at least level 25 Thieving. Plus you’ll need at least 15% Hosidius favour to steal Golovanova fruit tops.

After you gather all the ingredients just follow these steps:

  1. Use the dough on the empty pie dish
  2. Then use the Golovanova fruit top on the pie shell
  3. Finally cook this on a range (or use the Bake Pie spell from the Lunar spellbook for a 0% chance of burning)

Botanical pies offer boosts to your Crafting level by +4 (when eaten). This pie is a good alternative to the spicy stews from Evil Dave’s basement, because it requires no RNG and always boots by +4, but it cannot go to +5 like the brown spice stew.

So let’s look at how you can obtain all the 3 necessary ingredients, starting with the most complex one.

Getting Golovanova Fruit Tops

The only way to get Golovanova fruit tops is by stealing from the Hosidius Fruit stalls. These stalls are located around the Hosidius market area.

This process requires at least level 25 Thieving and 15% Hosidius favour.

And for each steal attempt, there’s a 2% chance you’ll get a Golovanova.

Stealing at the double fruit stall location / Old School RuneScape

The house located in the northeast on the previous map has two fruit stalls.

They respawn pretty quickly, but running between them is the most efficient way.

For you to actually get to this location, we’ve listed 3 of the best methods below:

  • Xeric’s Glade, on the Xeric’s Talisman
  • Lunch by the Lancaliums, used from the Kharedst’s memoirs (or Book of the dead)
  • Hosidius house portal

Getting Hosidius Favour (Best Methods)

Client of Kourend

Without a doubt, the fastest way to get 15% favour is by completing the Client of Kourend Quest and using the favour certificate on Hosidius.

But this is not always recommended, because Piscarilius’ favour is much harder to get and somewhat more expensive. So the favour certificate is often best used for Piscarilius’ favour – but just note this is an option.

But here’s a great alternative method that’s also fairly quick:

Hosidius Tasks

Pictured above: a map of where you should go to plough the fields in Hosidius, and where the Saltpetre mine is located.

The most recommended method to gain 15% Hosidius favour comes in two steps:

First you’d ploughing the fields. You can do this to get from 0 to 5% favour, and this only requires a hammer.

Then from 5% to 15% favour you can make Sulphurous fertiliser by combining Saltpetre (use a Spade on the deposits in Hosidius) and Compost. Then you’d talk with the clerk at the Saltpetre mines to donate it to him, increasing your favour by 0.1% with each donation.

Using this method you should need around 100 Sulphurous fertilizer buckets to reach to 15% favour.

Getting the Pie Shell

Fast Method: Culinaromancer’s Chest

Culinaromancer’s Chest in the basement of Lumbridge Castle / OSRS

You should gain access to the Culinaromancer’s Chest after completing Cook’s Assistant & after starting the Recipe for Disaster Quest.

You’ll find this chest located in the basement area of Lumbridge Castle.

All the required items you need for a Botanical Pie are sold here, all without the need to finish any subquest.

So you can simply buy all the required items for your Pie shell (Pot of flour, bucket, and Pie dish) in the basement of Lumbridge Castle.

Alternative Method: Source From Other Shops

You can also buy these pie dish ingredients from some other shops.

Here’s a few convenient locations:

  • Pie dish: sold by Frenita in Yanille, and by Logava in the Hosidius Fruit Stall (west of the bank)
  • Pot of flour: Port Sarim, and from Logava in the Hosidius Fruit Stall (west of the bank)

Making Flour Yourself

It’s also easy enough to make your own flour, and we actually have a guide on that.

But here’s a quick step-by-step process to follow:

  1. Buy an Empty Pot from the Lumbridge General Store
  2. Go to the Lumbridge mill
  3. Pick some grain from the farm
  4. Go up the stairs in the mill
  5. Use the grain on the hopper
  6. Operate the controls
  7. Go down and collect your flour with the Empty Pot

Archel

Hey I'm Archel, and I've been playing OSRS since 2013. I maxed in 2018 after an embarrassing number of inefficient hours. I really like slaying, clues, and bossing, but still haven't acquired the Inferno Cape (maybe this year?)
