In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, Sharp Beaks can be obtained by capturing a wild Fearow or a wild Skarmory.

Skarmory is only available in Pokémon FireRed, but Fearow can be captured in both versions of the game. Once you’ve captured either Pokémon, there’s a 5% chance that it will be holding a Sharp Beak.

You can take the Sharp Beak from the captured Pokémon by checking its held items in your PC or in your Party.

Getting a Sharp Beak

Whether you have Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen, you’ll be able to get Sharp Beak either way – because it is carried by two different Pokémon (Skarmory and Fearow).

It will be easier to get the item in FireRed since that version of the game has both Skarmory and Fearow, while LeafGreen only has Fearow.

The easiest way to get a Sharp Beak is to:

  1. Clear your Party so you have plenty of empty spaces
  2. Head to a location with wild Skarmory and Fearow available (detailed below)
  3. Walk around the grass and catch the Pokémon you’re looking for
  4. Check your Pokémon Party to see if the newly caught Pokémon is holding a Sharp Beak
  5. Repeat until you get Sharp Beak or your Party is full

Once your party is full, you can continue to catch the Pokémon, but you won’t be able to check if they have Sharp Beak until you head back to the PC.

There’s only a 5% chance of the wild Pokémon having Sharp Beak, so it will probably take you a few tries before you get one.

Fearow Locations

Fearow is your best bet for getting a Sharp Beak, whether you have FireRed or LeafGreen. It can be found in many areas throughout the game, making Sharp Beak one of the earliest held items you can get.

No matter where you check, Fearow will have a 5% chance of holding a Sharp Beak. The good news is that some areas have a very high Fearow encounter rate, so you’ll have many opportunities to catch one.

Skarmory Locations

Skarmory is only available in Pokémon FireRed, but don’t be jealous if you have LeafGreen because there’s still only a 5% chance that Skarmory is holding a Sharp Beak.

Skarmory is also only available in Sevault Canyon and has a 5% encounter rate.

So it isn’t exactly easy to find one that’s holding a Sharp Beak anyways. But here’s its location details:

Sevault Canyon is found on Seven Island.

To get to Sevault Canyon, head to Seven Island, take the bridge south to Canyon Entrance, and then continue until you finally reach the Canyon itself.

This Canyon is filled with strong Pokémon and trainers, so make sure you’re prepared.

Finding Skarmory will be hard, and you’re probably going to have to run away from a lot of high level Pokémon as you search.

What Is The Sharp Beak?

Sharp Beak is a hold item that boosts the power of Flying-type attacks by 10%.

It’s perfect for Flying-type Pokémon, since most of them rely on doing a lot of damage as quickly as possible.

You probably will not need to worry about equipping items like Sharp Beak as you progress through the initial story of FireRed and LeafGreen, however once you get to post-game challenges, they will help you out quite a bit.

Sometimes it’s also quite fun training your Pokémon and getting them as strong as possible, whether it’s completely necessary or not.
