(Learn more). Not operating under the false pretense of being a realistic open-world game – because it certainly isn’t – Saints Row: The Third has a broad range of wacky cars. And they’re all cleverly named in relation to the purpose they serve.
Like with any open-world game, getting around the city in this game is a lot of fun and a main focus of the gameplay.
Complimented heavily by the incredible licensed music radio stations, driving cars in this game is a pleasure and makes up a good portion of what makes Saints Row 3 so enjoyable.
With wild customization options, cars in this game are more than just vehicles to get you from point A to point B. They are also deadly weapons and fun cruise-mobiles to head out and see the virtual landscape.
Let’s dive into the 10 best options for your next whip.
10. Scrubber
An obvious outlier in the list, the Scrubber is less Fast and Furious and more Death Race.
A vehicle typically used for street-sweeping, if you find the right version of this one called the Zombie then you’re in for a real treat.
What makes the Scrubble such a great car in the game is the insane customization options available. Unlike more realistic racing games, in Saints Row: The Third you are always just one step away from something utterly ludicrous.
Kit out the heavy-duty vehicle with saws on either side and sharp spikes on the bumper to deal massive collateral damage everywhere you go and leave a trail of destruction behind.
9. Wakazashi
Also not a supercar, but much closer to it, is the next car up on this list: the Wakazashi.
A cool convertible ride, the Wakazashi is a solid choice for rolling around the city listening to ‘My life is a party’ and sporting the suit and shades.
With a model resembling the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, the car is named after a Japanese sword which is apt considering how sharp it is at taking on corners and tight bends.
One of the better options for drifting around the city, it’s hard not to feel cool in the sleek Wakazashi.
8. Torch
Taking inspiration primarily from the Nissan Skyline GTR, the Torch in Saints Row 3 makes for an excellent choice if what you’re after is an exhilarating ride around the city.
Used in a promo video for the game’s improved driving mechanics, the Torch was designed with performance in mind. And it certainly doesn’t disappoint in that regard.
This car has a sleek design that will make everyone in-game feel a bit of envy. You will want to take this one out for a spin as often as possible, and make sure you do plenty of donuts at every opportunity.
7. Peacemaker
Here’s a fully kitted out cop car which makes the police a force to be reckoned with. And it makes those chases that much more likely to end in you with your hands in the air.
However there is one thing to say here: the Peacemaker commands respect.
With protective grills in the back of the car, anyone unfortunate enough to get arrested and put in the back seat won’t be able to open fire or escape.
It’s definitely worth hanging around at the scene of the crime and waiting for one of these beauties to show up so you can take the wheel and play cops and robbers around the city in a high-performing car.
6. Bear
An armored car with an attitude, the Bear lives up to its name in that nobody will want to mess with it when they see it coming towards them.
Usually driven by SWAT teams, the Bear is no joke. If you manage to get your hands on one by force or other means then you’ll feel indestructible as you go marauding around the city.
Best experienced while ‘Power’ is playing on the radio, this APC is bound to give you delusions of grandeur and set you off on your next mission.
Oh and I almost forgot, the Bear comes equipped with a mounted .50 cal machine gun in case you were worried it wasn’t dangerous enough.
5. Phoenix
he Phoenix is a muscle car that closely resembles the iconic Ford Mustang GT.
It’s a fantastic car choice for taking part in an illegal street race with your friends, the Phoenix evokes memories of the Fast and Furious franchise. Especially when you get down to the neat customization options, racing stripes and all.
A fun alternative to the unrealistic feeling supercars in many games, the Phoenix is a pleasure to drive around and it gives you a bit more protection than most of the faster cars.
4. Vortex
The last relatively ordinary-looking car to feature on this list is the Vortex.
It’s a snazzy sports car made to look like the Lotus Exige.
The Cortex should be your go-to car for whenever you need adept handling as well as impressive top speeds to make sure you don’t get left behind in a race (or chase).
While not as fast a few of the game’s elite cars, the Vortex more than makes up for it with its excellent ability to take on tight corners at break-neck speed. Not to mention its visually appealing chassis.
3. Temptress
The Temptress is based on an Audi R8 and with top speeds rivaling the Vortex, this is definitely a smooth ride.
While the two cars are very similar in terms of their outstanding handling and speed, the Temptress might just take the edge with its extraordinary customization options. A few tweaks can make this car look like it’s one step away from featuring in a Transformers film.
The Temptress is very pleasing on the eye and has the high performance to back it up.
Suitable for high-speed police pursuits throughout the city, cruising around and enjoying the scenery, or just bombing it down the highway and outmaneuvering oncoming traffic, the Temptress is tempting indeed.
2. Attrazione
We’ve finally come to the fastest car in this game making it one of the most enjoyable and satisfying to drive(if you’re a speed freak).
The Attrazione is a surefire way to have fun driving in Saints Row: The Third.
Inspired by some very nice looking Lamborghini models, namely the Murcielago and Cala, the Attrazione not only deserves the title of fastest car but quite possibly the best looking car too.
The fun in driving this type of car around the city comes from reaching incredible speeds and experiencing everything around you reduce to a blur as you send pedestrians flying. You’ll be trying to dodge the vehicles popping up in front of you moments before you pass them.
When it comes to speed this is the real deal, my friends.
1. Wraith
The best car in Saints Row: The Third is undoubtedly the Wraith.
Right now you might be thinking “this looks like the same car as the Attrazione”.
That’s because they are the same car, aside from some interesting behavioral tweaks which take the already ridiculous car to new heights.
With a special engine sound and Tron-like neon paint and under-glow, the Wraith is simply out of this world.
This is a car that takes the unrealistic theme that Saints Row is so well known for, and applies it to driving. When you get behind the wheel of a Wraith you’ll understand why this is such an excellent example of what the series is all about.
