EA knew what they were doing when they added the ‘writer’ career to Sims 4.
There’s something about putting pen to paper that gives character to your sim.
After all, it’s a job that’s creative without being too artsy, and idealistic, yet still tangible. It’s no wonder why it’s so easy to fall in love with author sims!
Unfortunately, a simple vanilla career path can only go so far.
If you want to bring some real life to your writer sim, you’re going to need a little something more.
So of course it’s time to turn to the wonderful world of Sims 4 CC once again.
And in order to read… you need a book reading pose set!
This delightful pose pack will let your sims read anytime, anywhere, whether they’re authors or avid fans or family members turned editing team.
Most of the poses included are in sitting or reclining stances so that the book can be enjoyed to its full potential. But there is one ‘walking’ pose too.
It’s like the book version of using your phone while you walk (yeah, I see you over there), but I can’t imagine it’s a comfortable way to read.
It looks great, though, so I won’t mind if you make the most of it!
In the base game, your sims pretty much exclusively use a computer to write.
While that’s fine for some, it just doesn’t fit the ‘look’ for other characters.
The solution?
A vintage typewriter (or two – they look wonderful as decorations around the house).
Not only are typewriters far more aesthetically pleasing than a computer, but their entire purpose is writing. Which makes this a perfect fit for writer sims.
Soon you’ll practically be able to hear the clacking sound of typewriter keys echoing through the apartment as your sim writes their next story.
And as an added bonus, they’ll be unable to browse TV Tropes for hours in the name of ‘inspiration’.
Here’s another typewriter option, in case you weren’t satisfied with the first one.
This writer’s lore typewriter CC features sharper corners, a sleeker design, and a TON more colors (30 swatches compared to the 8 of the previous typewriter).
Just like the vintage typewriter above, this one has the same writing functions as a computer built-in. So it’s totally functional and well-designed.
Of course, the real selling point of this typewriter is that your sim will always have a convenient Hemingway cosplay at their (literal) fingertips.
If you want to go really old fashioned, then this pose pack is for you.
It doesn’t get much more traditional than pen and paper.
Originally made for ‘royal’ sims, these writing poses scream professional and hardworking at the same time.
Of course, it doesn’t allow your sim to actually practice writing (since it’s just a pose pack). But this set is super good at making your sim look busy.
It only works for adult sims, but it makes up for that by having not only male and female options, but also left and right-handed ones.
Now that’s the kind of attention to detail I’d expect from a professional writer!
Although this notebook isn’t only for writers, it’s definitely a must-have for authors and journalists.
This custom notebook mod adds, well, a notebook into your game.
But it’s a functional one!
Sims of all ages and genders (child prodigies, looking at you) can use it to practice their writing. And it comes in 19 colors and patterns to match your sim’s particular tastes.
You can actually have your sim write entire books with it, though they need to have a level 5 writing skill to do that.
It can also be used to write different types of letters, such as love letters, or to write down your sim’s feelings, if they’re the emotional type.
There’s even a “Write Jokes” option like on the computer.
Typewriters might appeal to serious minded old-fashioned sims, but the romantic writer set appeals to a completely different sort.
These sims are constantly daydreaming about their next big story, even if they’re supposed to be paying attention in class or at their day job.
And once they get a moment to themselves?
They’ll be writing for hours.
This décor set comes in 4 striking designs, including but not limited to “my favorite book is a fairy tale” and “this is the notebook I’ve been carrying with me everywhere since I was 7”.
There’s also a very high chance that sims who use this CC set will call their personal musings a diary instead of a journal.
