Strawberry cows are one of the specialty cows in SoS: FoMT. They have unique pink hair that sets them apart from the other animals in the game.

Strawberry cows also produce strawberry milk instead of normal milk.

How To Get a Strawberry Cow

There are two different ways to get a strawberry cow. One is by purchasing it from Yodel Ranch, and the other is breeding a strawberry cow by yourself.

Purchasing from Yodel Ranch

If you haven’t had a strawberry cow on your farm before, you can get your first cow from Mugi at Yodel Ranch.

The ranch is located at the southeastern side of Mineral Town. It’s open every day from 10 AM until 3 PM, except on Mondays.

There are no prerequisites needed in order to buy a strawberry cow. They’re already available for purchase at the start of the game.

You also need to have space available in your barn, since you can only have 8 barn animals at a time. A barn upgrade is also available through Gotts at the workshop, which will let you have up to 16 animals.

Strawberry cows are priced at 10,000 G: twice the cost of a regular cow.

Breeding

If you’ve purchased a strawberry cow before, you can simply breed another one at a fraction of the cost. Yodel Ranch sells Cow Breeding Kits priced at 3,000 G each.

Simply equip the Cow Breeding Kit as a tool and select the cow you want to breed. Make sure there is enough space in the barn to accommodate another animal.

The cow also needs to be fully mature (producing milk). Otherwise, the breeding will fail.

Breeding animals is one of the best ways to expand your barn. Animals you buy from Mugi can only reach a maximum of 5 hearts. However, for each generation of animals born on your farm, their maximum heart level increases by one.

You can view your cow’s heart level by opening the relationships menu, and selecting Animals.

You can keep breeding cows until they reach a maximum of 10 hearts, which will also allow you to harvest higher-quality milk.

Taking Care of a Strawberry Cow

Once you’ve successfully obtained your strawberry cow, it’s time to raise them!

Cows mature after a maximum of 14 days. However, you can speed up this process by interacting with them and feeding them.

If you feed them every day from the moment you get them on your farm, they mature after 9 days.

You can leave fodder in the feeding troughs and they’ll automatically eat it themselves.

Make sure you don’t put more fodder in the troughs than there are animals in the barn, though. The extra fodder will just disappear without being eaten the next day.

Here are some other things you can do daily to increase your friendship points with your strawberry cow:

1. Talking to them

You can talk to your cow an unlimited amount of times every day. This will open a dialogue box that encourages them to grow up healthy.

If your cow likes you, they’ll moo back and a heart bubble will show up on the screen.

2. Brushing them

You can buy a Brush from Saibara at the Forge for 800 G. The Forge is located to the north of your farm.

Equip this tool and brush them every day to increase friendship points.

3. Hand feeding

It might be more convenient to leave fodder in the troughs or just take them outside, but hand feeding will make your cows like you more. Select the fodder in your inventory and interact with the cow to manually feed them.

4. Letting them outside

You can bring your cows outside of the barn to make them happier. Simply ring the bell to the left of the barn door and they’ll find their way out.

They will only go outside to graze in sunny weather, and automatically go back inside the barn at 8 PM.

Strawberry Milk Products

Unlike regular cows, strawberry cows can only produce strawberry milk.

This milk can’t be processed into other dairy products like cheese.

You can start harvesting strawberry milk from your cows once they reach maturity. You can get the milker from Saibara at the Forge for 3,000 G.

However, strawberry milk does sell for a higher cost, which makes up for the value. The quality and selling price of the milk will also be dependent on the cow’s heart level.

Are Strawberry Cows Worth It?

Now that you’ve finally got your strawberry cows, was it really worth all that time and effort to raise them? Let’s review.

Since they can’t produce all of the byproducts that you can get from regular cows, from a financial standpoint, strawberry cows aren’t worth all that trouble.

But if you take care of them well enough, their strawberry milk will sell for a much higher price than regular milk. This can make up for the lack of cheese.

Other than that, there’s not much of a difference in how specialty and normal cows behave.
