French fries in Spiritfarer are made by cooking potatoes and fats in the kitchen. It’s also just one of the many dishes Stella can cook in the game.

Once cooked, you can then feed this pub food to some of the many spirits that are currently being accommodated in Stella’s boat.

As for the requirements, you need:

Requirement Purpose
Potatoes Ingredient
Fats Ingredient
Raccoon Inc. in Oxbury Where you’ll buy potatoes
Crusher Building needed for making oil (fats)
Kitchen Building needed to cook french fries
Bruce and Mickey Spirits needed to unlock Crusher

If you’d like more in-depth details then we created this handy guide to walk you through all of the steps needed to make this delicious fried food.

Gathering the Ingredients

You’re first introduced to French Fries by the spirit Stanley as it is his favorite food. When he first gets hungry on the boat, he will ask you for “something French and you can fry it”.

As mentioned above, the ingredients for cooking French Fries are only:

  • Potatoes
  • Fats

But while it’s a fairly easy dish, gathering these two ingredients is the tricky part – so let’s get the process started.

Step 1: Getting the Potatoes

As a food item, potatoes can’t just be bought.

Instead you have to purchase potato seeds, plant them in the garden, and harvest the potatoes after.

As for where to get potato seeds, you can purchase them from the Theodore Raccoon Inc’s store in Oxbury, found in the coordinates X: 233, Y:18.

They’re priced at 110 Glims per piece.

But while buying seeds from the many Raccoon Inc. locations is the quickest way to acquire them, the potato seeds are only available in Oxbury.

With the Rock Destroyer upgrade, you can visit Oxbury / Spiritfarer
With the Rock Destroyer upgrade, you can visit Oxbury and directly buy potato seeds from the Racoon Inc. shop.

Aside from that, you can chance upon potato seeds in any floating crates in the water, although the yield in these is very random. Some don’t even give seeds at all.

Once you have the seeds, you can then proceed to plant them in the garden aboard the boat.

If you don’t have one yet, then you’d be glad to know that the garden is automatically unlocked in the beginner blueprint station. And all you need to build it is:

  • 10 Maple Logs
  • 5 Lightnings in a bottle

Once built, you can enter the garden and interact with one of the plots to plant the potato seeds. This will take some time, and you will need to water the plant when a water drop icon is hovering above the plant.

But if you don’t like waiting, you can make the plant grow faster by playing music. To do this, simply enter the garden and hold the guitar button, which is:

  • X on Switch
  • Y on Xbox
  • Triangle on PlayStation
  • F on PC

Stella will then start playing music and you need to press the notes appearing on the screen. The better you perform, the faster you’ll see the plant growing.

Once fully grown, you can harvest the plant for potatoes and plant some more seeds on the empty plot.

Step 2: Getting the Fats

The next ingredient is fats, which is decidedly trickier and can only be acquired later in the game.

To start, you will first need to recruit the spirits Bruce and Mickey aboard the boat, as they will give you a blueprint essential for this part.

Bruce and Mickey are found on Southpoint Docks, found in the coordinates X: 157, Y:22 in the Industrial Region. To reach this island, you need the “Rock Destroyer” boat improvement, unlocked with:

  • 10 Aluminum Ingots
  • 8 Marbles
  • 6 Fireglows
  • 2 Spirit Flowers

Once the two spirits are aboard, they will give you the Crusher blueprint for the quest “Smash! Smash!”

To construct this building, you’ll first need to unlock it with the Expert Blueprint Station upgrade, found in Albert’s Shipyard (X: 61, Y: 64).

This upgrade requires:

  • 10 Iron Ingots
  • 10 Wool Fabrics
  • 1850 Glims

This unlocks the orchard, the sheep corral, and finally, the crusher.

As for building the Crusher itself, all you’ll need is:

  • 7 pulsar ingots
  • 15 Ash Planks
  • 5 Zinc Ingots

Pulsar ingots are gathered from pulsar ore, while ash planks are made by putting ash logs in the Saw mill. Then zinc ingots are made from zinc ore, usually found in Southpoint Docks and Flotsam Shores.

After building the crusher, you can then use it to make fats.

Simply enter the building and “crush” sunflower seeds as much as you can to get the maximum amount of sunflower oil, which is the fats that you need.

Note: Sunflower seeds are bought from the Raccoon Inc. shop at Nordweiler (X: -3, Y: 152), priced at 140 Glims.

Cooking French Fries

Once you have both the potatoes and the fats, it’s time to enter the kitchen and cook.

If you don’t have the kitchen yet, then it’s also unlocked automatically with the beginner blueprint station. And the materials required are:

  • 5 Maple Logs
  • 8 Bright Jellies

Of course, you can build more than one kitchen in the game, which is recommended if you aim to make different types of dishes in one go.

Mix the potatoes and sunflower oil in the kitchen / Spiritfarer
Mix the potatoes and sunflower oil in the kitchen and wait until it’s finished to get the French fries.

After building the kitchen, you can immediately start cooking by interacting with the stove inside and choosing which food items to use.

Note that you can put in up to five items at once, and aside from that, Stella can also view her recipe book.

After adding potatoes and the fats, a timer will then appear on top of the oven, which indicates how much time you have to wait before the dish is completed.

Once that timer is complete, smoke will come out of the kitchen, and there’s also a notification that will appear.

Note: Leaving the dish alone for too long will turn it into burnt food, and you will have to cook again.

You can then give the French fries to Stanley, as they are his favorite food. You can also feed them to Bruce and Mickey, as they classify it as “pub food.”
