The easiest way to gather Crocus is by foraging in the Winter. Specifically, you can find them in the snowy areas of the following maps:

  • Pelican Town
  • the Railroad
  • the Bus Stop
  • the Mountains
  • Cindersap Forest
  • the Backwoods

You can also gather Crocus by planting Winter Seeds. This method can be especially useful if the Greenhouse is unlocked for year-round planting.

At Foraging Level 7, you unlock the option to craft 10 Winter Seeds using:

  • Crocus
  • Crystal Fruit
  • Snow Yam
  • Winter Root

The seeds will mature into any of the four items used to craft the seeds, including the Crocus.

Winter seeds can also be obtained as a reward for completing the Winter Foraging Bundle, and by placing a Winter Root in the seed maker.

If you’re lucky enough, you can even complete certain Community Center bundles and rooms much earlier by visiting the Traveling Cart.

It comes by Cindersap Forest every Friday and Sunday and often has out-of-season items for sale, including the Crocus.

Fair warning: the Traveling Cart isn’t cheap, so make sure to stock up on lots of gold!

Common Uses for Crocus

Gifts: Sandy loves all the foraged seasonal flowers, including the Crocus! It’s also almost universally liked by the residents—but watch out for Clint, George, and Sebastian, who all dislike the flower.

Community Center: Make sure to save at least one Crocus for the Winter Foraging Bundle at the Community Center.

Winter Seeds: Some of the Winter Seed crops appear in quests from the billboard or the fish pond, and all of them can be used for tailoring.

Billboard Quests: During the winter, Crocus can sometimes appear as a quest in the billboard (“Help Wanted!”), which profits more gold and Friendship points than simply selling or gifting it.

Tailoring and Dyeing: You can bring a piece of cloth along with one Crocus to Emily’s sewing machine to create a purple shirt. You can also use Crocus as purple dye for the dye pots.

The Crocus is a humble, purple flower.

Outside of its Community Center quest, it’s not a very valuable item. Profit-wise, it’s nowhere near efficient, and it’s quite literally a useless food source.

However, it is a nice little gift for most of the townsfolk.

So when you’re out and about planting Winter Seeds or foraging in the winter, it certainly won’t hurt to gift it to a beloved villager.
