10 Anime Characters That Could Beat Rimuru Tempest

If you’ve been watching That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, you would know that Rimuru is shaping up to become one of the most powerful characters we’ve ever seen.

And if you read the light novel/web comic, you know that Goku is child’s play here.

So before Rimuru becomes an absolute unbeatable god, let’s see how he stacks up against other anime characters.

Prepare for a lot of hax.

10. Eri

Anime: My Hero Academia

This fight requires quite a bit of head-cannon to claim Eri would win, but it is possible.

When Eri unleashes her full power, she’s able to rewind the physical bodies of anyone around her, even phasing them out of existence.

Rimuru is usually quite difficult to kill, as he has every type of resistance imaginable, as well as near infinite regeneration.

However, even he can’t protect himself from time-altering abilities.

Well, at least in the anime.

How long the rewinding takes seems to vary, as she just Thanos snaps some people – while Deku on the other hand took the effect for quite a bit, so this is where the head cannon comes in.

If Eri was somehow capable of releasing her full power all at once while Rimuru was close by, it’s GG.

9. Ainz Ooal Gown

Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord

Anime: Overlord

I do have to preface this one with “Rimuru has yet to show his full Demon Lord abilities at the time of writing this”, as the matchup is already insanely close without more power-ups.

These two characters actually share quite the similar backstory: both being reincarnated into monsters, both leading a nation of monsters, and both possessing approximately 1 billion skills in their arsenal.

They also both have resistances to just about everything, and can meta game the fight if needed.

So the only reason I think Ainz could clutch the victory is because he can lay quite a few traps, as well as disperse more raw destructive power at once. Which could prove problematic for Rimuru.

It’s insanely close though.

And there is a big chance I will eat my words here come the end of the season.

8. Giorno Giovanna

Giorno Giovanna from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

Anime: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

This fight largely depends on whether Giorno can get close enough to Rimuru to activate his Golden Experience Requiem.

The second he does, the fight is over.

You see, Golden Experience Requiem has this very fun ability where he can send you into an infinite loop of death that you can never escape. Truly fun stuff.

But he does need to get close.

So, either we go by the head cannon that Stands are not made up of magic and thus Rimuru can’t see them, or we rely on Geiorno’s ability to get close without causing any suspicion – and then just one-shotting Rimuru.

7. Anos Voldigoad

Anos Voldigoad from The Misfit of Demon King Academy

Anime: The Misfit of Demon King Academy

Think of Anos as a slightly different Saitama in terms of power, as he has some of the most intense feats in all of anime.

And I don’t mean the usual stuff like blowing up a planet.

The dude literally inflicted damage onto his opponent just through the sound of his own heartbeat.

He also negated attacks flying his way by blinking at them.

Even Rimuru with his Great Sage could never come up with a tactic against a dude who can blink attacks away.

6. Shigeo Kageyama

Shigeo Kageyama from Mob Psycho 100

Anime: Mob Psycho 100

I hope this goes without saying, but Mob would have to be at 100% with the full intent to kill in order for this to work.

Even then, I don’t think the battle would be too straightforward.

At 100%, Mob can toss buildings around like they’re nothing, and tank city-destroying explosions without any major issues.

On its own, that couldn’t really one-shot Rimuru.

However, I do think Mob would win in the long run.

We have seen how long he can keep up with the destruction in the final fight of season 2.

Rimuru would initially regenerate everything, but even he couldn’t survive being torn to shreds for the millionth time.

5. Saitama

Anime: One Punch Man

Since we talked about Mob, we might as well get his older brother out of the picture.

I usually avoid putting Saitama on these types of lists, but Rimuru definitely warrants it.

Saitama’s raw stats are simply so high that no combination of skills, tactics, or trap cards could ever defeat him.

In fact, I doubt he would even get all that excited during the fight, since even feats like being flung to the moon don’t seem to do it for him.

Rimuru, on the other hand, has no experience with being punched so hard that his body ends up in five different time zones.

Needless to say, Saitama would win this fight.

4. Urashiki Otsutsuki

Urashiki Otsutsuki from Boruto anime

Anime: Boruto

For all intents and purposes, Urashiki is currently just a slightly better version of Rimuru.

I say this because he can also just steal people’s abilities and use them as he pleases.

However, Urashiki does this from range, almost instantly, and takes a big chunk of your energy in the process.

So as long as he avoids being eaten by Rimuru, he can just chip away at his energy pool until there’s nothing left.

We already know from Rimuru’s battle with Hinata that attacks that affect the soul are pretty effective.

And since Urashiki scales with Naruto when it comes to speed and durability, I do think he stands a fair chance at victory.

3. Reinhard van Astrea

Reinhard van Astrea from Re: Zero

Anime: Re: Zero

This dude has plot armor as his cannon ability.

By that I mean he has so many blessings, he’ll always have the exact perfect ability to defeat any foe anytime, anywhere.

And even if we don’t use the data books (or wikis) for this guy, we can still see that he stands a good chance at winning against Rimuru – as he literally one shot Puck in the anime.

For context, Puck was at the level where he could destroy the entire world at the time. And Reinhardt reduced him to ash within a second.

2. Julius Novachrono

Julius Novachrono from Black Clover

Anime: Black Clover

If you thought the Eri pick earlier was too much of a stretch, this one should suit you better.

It’s the same argument as Eri, but everything is on steroids.

Julius has an immense range that can cover an entire country. He’s no stranger to murder, and he moves faster than light itself.

In fact, every one of his abilities is a one-shot as it just ages you to death.

I don’t really know whether aging Rimuru forwards would kill him.

But we have seen Julius using rewind types of abilities as well, so he could possibly just pop Rimuru back into his previous life – or at the very least send him to his original slime form.

Either way, Rimuru becomes a lot easier to kill once you rewind all of those ridiculous buffs.

1. Altair

Altair from Re: Creators screenshot

Anime: Re: Creators

Altair is my favorite hax character.

She can literally beat anyone. In fact, just by writing this, I’ve confirmed that sentence.

She’s a self-aware fictional character that draws power from her fans, gaining the ability of whatever is written in by anyone.

Therefore, if Clayman just wrote down on a piece of paper “Altair has all the powers of Rimuru but like 100 times stronger”, that now becomes a reality.

And surely someone would write that in, being that there are quite a few people opposed to our slimy savior.
