The Best Mordekaiser Skins in LoL (All Ranked)

The old Mordekaiser was a walking hunk of metal who was really into ghosts.

But the new Mordekaiser arguably has the coolest design and backstory of any champion in the entire game. And with great design come even greater skins.

But which skin is his best?

That’s what I’ll try to figure out here by ranking all of his skins based on price and appeal. But straight off the bat, I just have to point out that Mordekaiser doesn’t have a single bad skin. So this will be a tough ranking.

9. Infernal Mordekaiser

Released: February 24th, 2010
Price: 520 RP

Even though I’m placing this one in last place, it’s far from bad.

In fact, it is straight up gorgeous.

The character model has a really cool hellish vibe to it, with long horns on your head and magma armor covering most of your body.

All of your particles have also been done up so as to look more like flames, with even your ult now looking like a tour of Dante’s “Inferno”, and your W now looks more menacing than ever.

The only reason I put this skin at the very bottom of the tier list is because Pentakill Mordekaiser has a lot of the same fire particles, while also bringing other features into play. So this skin seems slightly redundant.

Still a good choice if you don’t feel like spending a lot of RP.

8. King of Clubs Mordekaiser

Released: May 20th, 2015
Price: 750 RP

King of Clubs Mordekaiser really lives up to its name and makes you feel like a king.

Your armor gets a brand new shine, with your upper body being mostly covered in gold. And you even get a ridiculously large crown on your head – just to let everyone know you mean business.

This skin also gets some new particles, and although they’re not as detailed as in the previous pick, they still do the aesthetic justice & make everything a golden yellow color.

The character model is really nice, the splash art is just badass, and the price is more than reasonable.

But just like with the last skin, I feel like there’s a different Mordekaiser skin that does this theme a bit better. Which is why I am ranking this one so low.

7. Dragon Knight Mordekaiser

Released: February 24th, 2010
Price: 520 RP

Dragon Knight Mordekaiser is completely unique when it comes to the thematic – and boy does it look great.

It takes on the dragon aesthetic and somehow makes you feel even more connected to the Shadow isles than before.

Just like all the skins so far, this one changes your particles so that they fit the theme better. Although I will say this skin has the least amount of changes out of the list so far.

But that doesn’t matter when you see those dragon horns and giant hammer that even Poppy would be envious of.

I also really love how one of your arms doesn’t have any armor on it, exposing the scales underneath.

Overall, this skin is a true beauty that only gets beat out by other skins due to a lack of new features.

6. Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Mordekaiser

Released: September 9th, 2021
Price: 1350 RP

When it comes to deciding between this skin and the original Pentakill Mordekaiser, it all boils down to whether you like animations or the character model more.

This skin absolutely stomps when it comes to animations, bringing more rock and roll than ever before.

Your backing animation gives you a solo performance, all of your abilities have guitar riff sound effects, your dance emote has the usual solo, and your ult full-on brings the enemy into a giant stadium with music being blasted from the speakers.

That being said, I do prefer a nice character model most of the time. Which is why I’m ranking this skin a bit lower.

It’s not bad, but it just doesn’t carry that same rock and roll energy as the original.

5. Pentakill Mordekaiser

Released: September 21st, 2010
Price: 975 RP

Pentakill Mordekaiser is a true classic to Mordekaiser mains. And it deserves a lot of admiration.

The character model is everything you would want if you really cared about the rock aspect of his character.

He’s shirtless, tattooed all over, and is ready to party.

If you zoom in, you’ll see that he’s even wearing ripped jeans.

His particles have all been given the Infernal treatment, setting everything ablaze, and his dance emote is just objectively superior over any other. You even get some speakers to amp up your performance.

Plus, this skin is cheaper than Lost Chapter while arguably being of the same quality.

So as a whole this is an absolute beauty and a must-have if you plan on rocking out to Pentakill.

4. Lord Mordekaiser

Released: May 10th, 2011
Price: 975 RP

This skin is definitely the black horse of Mordekaiser cosmetics, and it is criminally underrated.

The splash art makes you think that it’s going to be some bland, chroma-like skin where Mordekaiser is just green.

But the in-game model tells quite the different story.

Lord Mordekaiser did what King of Clubs started, and really makes you feel like brutal royalty.

The armor design is impeccable, threading that fine line between fancy and brutal. And your mace looks like a weapon sung about in epic ballads – and your overall presence is just badass.

Plus your particles do get recolored into purple, making the skin feel a bit more distinct. But realistically the character model is the true selling point.

So yeah, stop sleeping on this skin.

3. PROJECT: Mordekaiser

Released: May 27th, 2021
Price: 1820 RP

This is Mordekaiser’s only legendary skin, and as such it’s an obvious choice for any Mordekaiser main who doesn’t care about price tags.

I’ll be honest and say that the character model here looks a bit generic. But considering how many new animations and features this skin brings to the table, I can look past it.

Your basic abilities get the usual PROJECT treatment and all become very sci-fi looking, while your ult just becomes a masterpiece and forcibly makes the enemy play Cyberpunk.

And if that beautiful neon city backdrop wasn’t enough of a selling point for the ult, Riot decided to make your character model change as well. Saying that it’s the best ult design in the game would be an understatement.

You also get the usual new updates to your voice over, backing animation, homeguard animation, death animation, and respawn animation as well.

Overall if you just want to have the coolest ult possible, this is the skin for you.

2. High Noon Mordekaiser

Released: May 12th, 2022
Price: 1350 RP

A good High Noon skin will always be worth its weight in gold – and this one lives up to the hype.

First off, Mordekaiser being a Western-style demon just made a lot of sense. The character model seems so at home that I’d honestly believe this was Mordekaiser’s original design.

Plus, Riot made a lot of small decisions that elevated this skin beyond most others. And it mostly all has to do with trains.

Your backing animation has a shadow train ride through as you hear it sounding off in the distance. The same sound can be heard during your ult and even while your W is active. In fact, the W even shines a little light in front of you – as if you were the train all along.

Other cool features include a flaming skull for when you kill someone in your ult. An oddly realistic 3D void for your passive, and a really cool E hand design.

Even the chroma selection is rather decent all things considered.

Sure, I would’ve liked the skin even more if some more features were implemented during your passive and ult. But one could easily make the point that the screen would be too busy then.

I can’t say it’s my all-time favorite skin – but it sure got close. So if you’ve liked other High Noon skins in the past, don’t pass this one up!

1. Dark Star Mordekaiser

Released: March 26th, 2020
Price: 1350 RP

I just love Dark Star Mordekaiser and everything it stands for.

First off, no other skin gives you the same sense of power as Dark Star does. PROJECT has you smashing a city in your new backing animation, but Dark Star has you smashing an entire planet.

Inferno has you hit an enemy with a weapon submerged in fire, but Dark Star has you hit them with a literal black hole.

Pentakill III has you perform in a stadium during your ult, but Dark Star just makes you go to space.

Lord makes you feel like the ruler of a nation with its character model design, but Dark Star makes you feel like the ruler of the universe.

No matter how I look at it, Dark Star just always makes me feel more powerful than any other skin. And if there’s one thing Mordekaiser likes, it’s power.
