In order to recruit Bruce and Mickey aboard Stella’s ship, you’ll need to first find them on Southpoint Docks, which you can reach by getting the “Rock Destroyer” boat upgrade.

Recruiting Bruce and Mickey is easy enough.

But getting the needed boat upgrade is one of the lengthier parts of this task.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown of what you need in order to recruit this gangster-like duo that count as one and start their storyline.

Rock Destroyer Boat Improvement

The first order of business is to get the necessary boat improvement.

Like many of the more advanced islands in the game, the one where you can find the spirits of Bruce and Mickey has a requirement for you to reach it.

In this case, the requirement is the “Rock Destroyer” boat improvement, as the Industrial District (where the island is found) is barred by a layer of rocks that Stella’s basic ship can’t get through.

To start, head on over to Albert’s Shipyard, which you can find at the coordinates X: 61, Y: 64, near Alt Harbor and marked by his Shark head. Or if you prefer, the nearest Bus Stop has the coordinates X: 77, Y: 51.

Once you’re there, head on over to the Boat Improvements section at the bottom, where you will spot the “Rock Destroyer” improvement.

Seeing as it’s the fourth boat improvement, completing the previous ones will be necessary.

In any case, focusing on getting the items for the improvements will be the fastest route, so this is what you need:

Boat Improvement Materials Cost
Mailbox (Receive Mail) 8 maple planks
8 linen threads
4 lightning in a bottle
250 Glim
Icebreaker (Pass Through Ice Barriers) 10 iron ingots
12 oak planks
18 linen fabric
12 spirit flowers
5 slates
800 Glim
Hermes’ Hymn (Move Boat 20% Faster) 5 slates
18 oak planks
16 wool fabric
Rock Destroyer (Pass Through Rock Barriers) 10 aluminum ingots
8 marbles
6 fireglow
2 spirit flowers
1,700 Glim

Southpoint Docks

Once you succeed in getting the “Rock Destroyer” boat improvement, it’s time to break through that previously imposing rock barrier in order to reach Southpoint Docks.

If you’re not sure where it is on the map, Southpoint Docks is in the Industrial District, found on the lower right of the map.

Coordinates are at X: 157, Y: 22, and it’s the first island you can reach once you pass through the rock barrier.

Now for the easy part.

After getting to Southpoint Docks, you can immediately find Bruce and Mickey after climbing the first ladder. Talk to them, and they’ll essentially ask you to “bully” another spirit.

Just walk left until you find another spirit, and proceed to talk to them. Don’t worry, because Stella wouldn’t actually bully the spirit.

Go back to Bruce and Mickey afterward, and you’ll discover that they’ll end up thinking you bullied the spirit either way. As a result, they’ll hop aboard Stella’s ship.

Once they’re in your ship, you can follow their requests to start their storyline.

These requests are as follows:

Request What to do
The Rhythm of the Night Unlocks the Pulsar Ray fighting minigame, where you can catch pulsar rays.
Smash! Smash! Build the Crusher to crush some rocks.
Mini Palace Construct Bruce and Mickey’s “Crib” accommodation.
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Add three “luxury decorations” in their crib. You’ll need the Smithy for this request.
A Taste of Home Cook some Lobster Rolls and Fried Chicken.
Campin in a Cadillac Go camping with Bruce and Mickey in Greymist Peaks, found in the map’s Misty Area.
Mask Off Plant some carrots, and eventually, peaches.
Brothers Until the End Take Bruce and Mickey to the Everdoor and bid goodbye.
