Where To Get Spirit Gems in KH1 (And KH1.5 Remix)

Spirit Gems are dropped by Air Soldiers and White Mushrooms, as well as Bambi in Neverland.

The best farming spot for these gems would be the Bizarre Room in Wonderland (the very first room with the table & the doorknob). Or you can also run through the Lotus Forest since Air Soldiers spawn there too.

So the easiest farming route is to run through the Bizarre Room, then through the Lotus Forest and clear that area. Once that’s cleared out you can leave Wonderland via any save point, re-enter the world, and do it all over again.

Spirit Gems are used in Moogle synthesis to craft AP Ups and Power Ups, along with the Titan Chain, Golem Chain, and the Master Earring.

Farming Spirit Gems

It is possible to use Bambi or White Mushrooms for this, but Air Soldiers are by far the easiest ways to get lots of Spirit Gems.

They’re super common and really easy to defeat. Plus they appear in large quantities so you can take out a lot of them all at once.

That said, let’s have a look at all your farming options for Spirit Gems.

Air Soldiers: This floaty fella has a 4% chance to drop a Spirit Gem. Yes that’s kinda low, but they appear very often.

You can find them flying around Traverse Town, Agrabah, Monstro, Hollow Bastion, Wonderland, and the End of the World. And truthfully, any of those worlds can work for farming.

But tons of these guys spawn in the Bizarre Room in Wonderland, along with almost every section of the Lotus Forest. Just run through those areas and take them out, collect your drops, then repeat.

White Mushrooms: These rare heartless play the spell charade game, and they’re great for some synthesis items. But in this case they’re probably more hassle than they’re worth.

But if you want to go after these guys then they’ll have a 10% drop chance for a Spirit Gem 10 if Aero is the last spell you use (or Aerora/Aeroga). Or they’ll have a 40% drop chance here if an Aero spell is used all three times.

Bambi: When you summon Bambi and take out a bunch of enemies, you’ll fill up his charge gauge. While he’s summoned on the field and being charged, Bambi will drop health/magic orbs and various items.

If you summon Bambi in Neverland and manage to defeat enough enemies to fill up Bambi’s gauge 3 times, he’ll have a 30% chance to drop a Spirit Gem.

This is actually a lot of effort, and even though the drop rate is higher than Air Soldiers, this farming method requires a lot more planning.

So you’re better off just running through Wonderland for these.

Spirit Gem Uses

Spirit Gems are ingredients in a bunch of useable synthesis items and accessories, such as:

AP Up: Permanently raises a character’s AP by +1. You can craft this in KH1 with List II and x3 Spirit Shards, x2 Spirit Gems, and x3 Mythril.

But the recipe in KH1.5 Remix is much different, not requiring a Spirit Gem at all.

Master Earring: Become a Master with this accessory that grants +4 AP and +2 Defense. In the original KH1 this can be made with List II using x3 Lucid Shards, x2 Lucid Gems, and x2 Spirit Gems.

If you’re playing KH1.5 Remix, the recipe will instead need List III and x5 Spirit Shards, x3 Spirit Gems, and x1 Fury Stone.

Titan Chain: This accessory grants +4 strength and +2 Defense. You can make this in KH1 with List IV using x5 Spirit Shards, x3 Spirit Gems, and x1 Lucid Crystal.

The recipe in KH1.5 Remix doesn’t require any Spirit Gems.

Golem Chain: With +3 strength and +1 Defense, this accessory will make nice filler at any point in the game. It can be made in KH1.5 Remix with List II using x3 Blaze Shards and x1 Spirit Gem.

And this time around, the original game’s recipe in KH1 doesn’t require any Spirit Gems.

Power Up: Increases any party member’s Strength by +1. To synthesize this in KH1.5 Remix you’ll need List V and x5 Spirit Shards, x3 Spirit Gems, x5 Power Shards, x3 Dark Gems, and x1 Dark Matter.

The original KH1 will need different items and does not require any Spirit Gems.

Are These Worth Farming?

Spirit Gems aren’t incredibly difficult to farm, since Air Soldiers are quite abundant and are super easy to defeat (just spam Thundaga or Trinity Limit).

So chances are good if you’ve been fighting every group of Heartless along your journey, you should have a stockpile of these Gems already.

But if you want more because you want a bunch of AP Ups or Power Ups, then farming in the Bizarre Room is relatively simple and straight forward. I’d highly recommend farming there over anywhere else.

And the items you can craft are pretty worthwhile, especially if you want all the accessories or if you want max stats on your whole party. So in that it wouldn’t really be a waste of time.
