Unlike other Pokémon games under the same IP such as Pokémon Masters EX, Café ReMix is more of a casual, yet refreshing take on the genre.
In this guide I’ll cover everything you need to know as a beginner just picking up this game – including mechanics, how to level up, and several tips that’ll help you become the best Pokémon Café cook you can be!
Starting Out (Rerolling)
Here are all the things you need to know at the start of the game about rerolling and how to get more Pokémon.
Is Rerolling Necessary?
Absolutely not!
Sure, some Pokémon have better Café Skills and Special Gimmicks than others. But the beauty of it is that you can obtain most of these Pokémon just by playing the game normally.
I recommend maxing out all of the Pokémon you get eventually, since they’re all pretty much useful in their own way.
The only reason why you’d want to reroll is to get some Pokémon early on, or to get their Outfits.
It doesn’t really give you that much edge in the long run, but feel free to go for it if you want!
Which Pokémon Should You Reroll For?
Pokémon Café ReMix isn’t like most other gacha games because you don’t really need an overpowered unit to carry you through any stage of the game.
If you want to reroll, I recommend just rerolling for the Pokémon or Pokémon Outfits you personally like, as it really doesn’t matter which you pick in the long run.
This game prides itself on leaning toward the more “casual fun” side of things, which is honestly a breath of fresh air considering the other gacha games being released nowadays.
How To Unlock More Pokémon & Menu Items
The other reason why you shouldn’t worry about rerolling is that you get a ton of useful Pokémon just by playing through the game normally.
You can unlock more Menu Items in the early game just by clearing Orders – just as you’re instructed to in the tutorial.
Menu Items then allow you to attract customers/Pokémon.
By clearing Orders made by a specific customer and increasing their Friendship Level to the max, they’ll join you eventually as part of your staff.
Team Building Guide
The only things you need to worry about when it comes to deciding which Pokémon to use to clear an Order are Specialties and Gimmicks.
All Specialties
Specialties dictate whether or not setting a specific Pokémon as the leader in a specific Order would be optimal.
There are five different specialties in the game:
- Drinks
- Sweets
- Entrées
- Small Plates
- No Specialty
To know whether or not the Pokémon you’ve set as the leader has the optimal Specialty, simply check the icons above the Menu Item and your Pokémon:
If it is red, then you’ve got yourself a match!
Otherwise, the icons would be grayed out.
To make selecting a Leader Pokémon easier and more beginner-friendly, simply choose from the Specialist Pokémon listed right beside your Leader Pokémon.
Tip: My advice is to invest in at least five Pokémon with different Specialties. This’ll allow you to cover most of the Orders in the early game with ease.
However as you go further into the game, you’ll need to invest in a wide array of Pokémon to get more stars in your Orders.
Once you’ve got enough Stamina and Tarts, do not be afraid to invest in more Pokémon. You’re gonna find a use for them one way or another in the late game!
All Specialty Gimmicks
Choosing which Pokémon has the best combination of Specialty Gimmicks is also very important before doing every Order.
There are ten different Specialty Gimmicks In the game:

To know if your Leader Pokémon has the necessary Specialty Gimmicks to clear an Order more efficiently, simply check the icons right beside the Menu Item:
Once again, you can just choose between the Specialists listed in each Order to auto-pick recommended Pokémon that can clear the Order much easier.
Tip: Another perk of investing in at least five different Pokémon early on is that you get to have several Specialty Gimmicks under your arsenal.
This will help you complete Orders at a rapid rate in the early game where Gimmicks are much easier to clear.
You’re going to have to train more and more Pokémon if you want to have an easier time in the late game though, since using specified Specialists will grant you the best performance in an Order.
How The Puzzle-style Cooking Works
There are only seven main gameplay mechanics that you must know about in Pokémon Café ReMix as a beginner:
# | Mechanic | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Puzzle Skill List | Displays all the Puzzle Skills you currently have available. |
2 | Combo Swipe | Swiping on identical orbs will allow you to chain a Combo – allowing you to achieve higher scores. |
3 | Café Skill Orb | An orb that allows you to use your Leader Pokemon’s Café Skill. Combining two Blue Café Skill orbs will form one Green Café Skill Orb, which has an improved effect. |
4 | Gimmicks (Nuts) | Orbs that can only be cleared under specific conditions. In this case, we have Nuts that can only be cleared by either using a compatible Leader Pokémon and performing a Combo beside them, using a Café Skill, or using a Puzzle Skill. |
5 | Café Skill Meter | Displays how close you are to getting a Café Skill orb. You can fill this up by chaining any type of orb, but chaining the orbs of your Captain Pokémon will charge up your Café Skill Meter faster. |
6 | Move Counter | Displays how many swipes or combos you have left before the Order ends. |
7 | Scoreboard | Displays your current score, the number of stars you’ve gotten so far, and the conditions you need to meet to get more stars. |
Tip: The in-game tutorial will show you demonstrations of how to use these mechanics. Watch and follow those tutorials carefully!
Café Skills Guide
Each Pokémon has a unique Café Skill – just as they have different Specialties and Specialty Gimmicks.
I highly recommend that you check out a Pokémon’s Café Skill before using them to clear an Order. You can do this by going to their page and reading their Skill info:
All Pokémon have two types of Café Skills.
- Blue Café Skills: They are weaker but easier to execute.
- Green Café Skills: They are stronger but require combining two Blue Café Skills to execute.
Puzzle Skills Guide
There are four types of Puzzle Skills in the game:
Puzzle Skill Type | Effects | Usage Limit |
---|---|---|
Helping Paw | Can be used to clear a single Pokémon orb or Gimmick. | Unlimited |
Whistle ↕ | Can be used to clear all orbs in a vertical line. | Unlimited |
Whistle ↔ | Can be used to clear all orbs in a horizontal line. | Unlimited |
Leader Bell | Can be used to transform other Pokémon orb types to your Leader Pokémon’s orb type. | 1 per Order |
Tip: Puzzle Skills are consumable items, meaning you can run out of them if you use them too often.
If you want to be efficient, only use them when you’re in a tight spot – such as when your Move Counter is about to run out or if you want to get a higher Order score.
Powering Up Units (How To Get Stronger)
Here are the best methods that you can use to improve your units as a beginner in Pokémon Café ReMix.
Power-up Method | Requirements | Description |
---|---|---|
Level Up |
|
Increases a Pokémon’s level, Puzzle Score, Specialty Gimmicks, and Café Skills. |
Max Level Up |
|
Increases the maximum level a Pokémon can reach. |
Outfit Level Up |
|
Increases a Pokémon’s Puzzle Score and gives them special abilities. |
Boosters (Consumables) |
|
These consumables improve your Pokémon’s performance while cooking by spawning megaphones and Café Skill orbs in random locations at the start of each Order. These effects remain active for 15 minutes upon usage. |
Best Ways To Level Up Fast
The best way to level up your Pokémon fast in the early game is to use them in Special Visits, where you can farm the most amount of EXP as a beginner – all while farming extra items at the same time.
In the mid to late game once you’ve gathered enough stars from Orders, doing Daily Training will be more practical & will give you more EXP per Stamina spent.
Tip: Be mindful of how you spend your Stamina early on, as you can potentially level up multiple Pokémon at once if you use them in Special Visits/Events – regardless of their current level!
Important Items to Farm
Listed below are the items you’ll likely want to farm ASAP as a beginner to ensure your account sees quick and stable progress.
Items To Farm | Uses | Best Sources |
---|---|---|
Golden Acorn |
|
|
Stamina & Infinite Stamina |
|
|
Tarts |
|
|
Boosters |

|
Puzzle Skills |

Primary Objectives for Beginners
Listed below are the most important tasks that you should accomplish once you get started in Pokémon Café ReMix.
Objective #1: Clear As Many Orders As You Can
You should clear as many orders as you can at the beginning of the game for seven main reasons:
- You can unlock more Menu Items.
- You can unlock more Pokémon.
- You can expand your Café.
- You can unlock more features.
- You can farm tons of Golden Acorns.
- You’ll learn more about the game via tutorials and demonstrations.
- You can complete missions and claim the rewards by clearing orders.
Clearing Orders should be your number one priority once you get into the game, as this is the only way you’ll unlock more game modes and learn more about the mechanics.
My advice is to get to at least Order #20 before exploring other game modes or features because by then, you’ve already unlocked most of them.
Objective #2: Unlock More Order Slots
Order Slots allow you to interact with different customers for their Orders. You can unlock them by either:
- Unlocking facilities and buying slots with Golden Acorns
- Buying paid packs from the Shop
The F2P way will always be the best, so I recommend you fork over some Golden Acorns to buy an Order Slot.
The first unlockable Order Slot costs 5,000 Golden Acorns. This is definitely worth it in the long run, since with more Slots, you’ll have more customers to choose from to spend your Stamina on!
Objective #3: Join or Create a Team ASAP
Joining or creating a Team is an absolute must for both beginner and veteran Pokémon Café ReMix players.
You can unlock this feature once your clear Order #12.
Membership Type | Create/Join Cost |
---|---|
Team Captain (1 max per team) | 300 Golden Acorns |
Team Member (29 max per team) | None |
You can farm up to 5 Stamina per day via the Cheer feature, which allows Team members to either give or receive Stamina from other members. Neat, right?
As if that isn’t enough, you can also participate in Team Events if you join a Team, which allows you to farm a variety of items such as Golden Acorns or Tarts that’ll help you progress faster as a beginner.
Pokémon Café ReMix General Tips
Here are some handy tips that should help most beginners that want to up their cooking quality in Pokémon Café ReMix.
Tip #1: Take Advantage of Infinite Stamina
You can get a lot of Infinite Stamina as a beginner by completing Café missions and claiming their rewards.
Infinite Stamina is an item that, once claimed, allows you to play any stage you want without consuming Stamina for 15 minutes.
This is HUGE for beginners, as you can basically spam-clear stages with it.
My advice?
Clear Special Visits as many times as you can for maximum EXP and item gains whenever you obtain Infinite Stamina!
Tip #2: Mind Your Deliveries
Unlike in most gacha games, you don’t really need to pull all that much in Pokémon Café ReMix, as you can complete the game just fine with the Pokémon you get from clearing Orders.
With that said, you should still use your free daily deliveries and pull Express Deliveries whenever you can, as these may give you Outfits that improve your Pokémon’s performance in battle.
Type of Express Delivery | Cost |
---|---|
Single (1x) | 3,000 Golden Acorns |
Multi (11x) | 30,000 Golden Acorns |
Just make sure to only use 11x Express Deliveries, as this option gives you a better cost-to-benefit ratio than single pulls.
Tip #3: Clear Special Visits for EXP & Items
Special Visits are by far the best source of EXP and items in the game – especially for beginners.
They can otherwise be called Pokémon Café ReMix’s version of events, and they give players countless rewards just by clearing challenges or reaching certain milestones.
Instead of spending your Stamina in Training or Orders for EXP or items, I highly recommend focusing on Special Visits if you want to level up your Pokémon in the early game.
Tip #4: Use Your Heaping Helpings Wisely
A Heaping Helping gives you either +2 Friendship Level or +2 Cookies depending on whether you already have the Pokémon or not.
This is exactly why you should pick who to give your Heaping Helpings to wisely, as you can use this feature to obtain a Pokémon quicker or to increase their Staff Level limit faster.
Feel free to pick which Pokémon to use them on. My only advice is to avoid investing Cookies in Pokémon with the same Specialty – at least in the early game.
Tip #5: Train Your Pokémon Daily
While Special Visits give you more EXP early on, I still recommend you train your Pokémon at least once a day because of the Daily Bonus.
The Daily Bonus gives you more EXP, which makes the Stamina cost more or less worth it compared to if you just used the Stamina in a Special Visit.
With that said, I also recommend training your Pokémon regularly once you’ve already cleared a lot of Orders.
Since the more stars you get from Orders, the more EXP you can get from Training.
This means that once you leave the early game, the EXP you get from Training will eventually surpass the EXP you obtain from clearing Special Visits!
Tip #6: Pay Attention to the Demonstrations
Pokémon Café Remix shows players demonstrations of how to use specific mechanics and features in the game.
Watch them! They are pretty easy to follow, and you’ll grasp several of the puzzle mechanics like Special Gimmicks, Combos, or Café Skills in no time just by paying attention to them.
Tip #7: Always 3★ Orders (When Possible)
Clearing an Order or Training with 3★ gives you more EXP and Golden Acorns, which is why I highly recommend doing it consistently even as a beginner.
You’ll need every resource you can get early on, so even if you don’t get 3★ on your first try, just replay the Order again by visiting your Past Orders. You can unlock Past Orders by reaching Order #20.
Collecting stars from Orders also increases the amount of EXP you get from training Pokémon, so don’t forget to collect as many of them as you can!
