10 Best Welfare Servants in Fate/Grand Order (Ranked)

As a gacha game, FGO makes its cash by one method alone:

Churning out continuously stronger and more visually appealing characters to entice players to spend their hard-earned cash for the chance to win some PNGs.

But for those not wanting to spend, there is hope for you yet!

Occasionally FGO will provide players with servants for free – including all the materials needed to max their stats.

These are referred to as “welfare servants” and they can be just as powerful as their limited counterparts.

So let’s take a look at the best servants in FGO that you can acquire for FREE!

10. Altera the San(ta) (Archer)

Altera the San(ta) Fate/Grand Order sprite

Altera earns a spot on this list to bless your future rolls with good fortune.

After all, to not include her would be Bad Civ.

That isn’t to say that Alter is terrible by any means. Her NP is capable of dishing out crazy amounts of damage, and her skills support this well.

Not only that, but she also has one of the funniest NPs in the entire game!

Let’s just say that if you don’t like lamb, you should probably skip this Rider.

Mehh, Mehhhhh, Mehhh, Meh, Mehh, Meeehhhhhhh.

9. Ryougi Shiki (Assassin)

Ryougi Shiki Fate/Grand Order sprite

Shiki is a great pickup for anyone looking to acquire a powerful Assassin.

Coming to us from the Kara no Kyoukai collaboration event, Shiki boasts a powerful Arts buff, an evade, and a decent NP charge.

Her strengthening as well really cements her as one of the best Welfare servants around.

8. Nightingale Santa (Archer)

Nightingale Santa Fate/Grand Order sprite

Nightingale is a strange case in that she’s a damage-dealing support servant.

With her Quick NP, she’s able to three-turn loop, but her utility mostly comes from her party skills.

Nightingale Santa’s skills are absolutely stacked!

Targetable Guts, Targetable NP buff, AOE party debuff cleanse, enemy debuff strip – this just goes on.

Nightingale Santa is definitely a must pick-up for anyone lacking in a strong support servant.

7. Summer Ishtar (Rider)

Summer Ishtar Fate/Grand Order sprite

Ishtar is a great AOE Quick pickup for those lacking in a farming rider.

Let’s say you’ve spent all of your Saint Quartz attaining that one coveted copy of Skadi so that you can three-turn loop. Great!

The only problem is, you’re down to zero-premium currency. And the only looping option you have left is Red Hare.

Worry not. Because with a little extra support, Summer Ishtar can three-turn loop like the best of them.

6. Katsushika Hokusai Summer (Saber)

Katsushika Hokusai Summer Fate/Grand Order sprite

Summer Hokusai provides a great mix of efficient damage with an easily chargeable NP.

Her single-target nuke of an NP is very effective as is. But if you’re using it every other turn, the damage will start to ramp up exponentially.

Single-target sabers are hard to come by in FGO (without pulling the gacha of course) so be sure to grab yourself a copy of Summer Hokusai and max her immediately.

5. Chloe Von Einzbern (Archer)

Chloe Von Einzbern Fate/Grand Order sprite

For a long time, Chloe stood uncontested as arguably the greatest welfare servant of all time.

Now this argument is more debatable.

But one thing that has stayed the same is the fact that Chloe still remains one of the best single-target Arts damage-dealers in the entire game.

Like Emiya, she’s able to buff each of her Arts, Buster, and Quick cards with one skill.

Additionally she also possesses an evade for tactical survival and a whopping 50% NP battery!

4. Nagao Kagetora (Lancer)

Nagao Kagetora Fate/Grand Order sprite

Nagao is a single-target Arts lancer with skills that help her scoop up stars and deal out massive damage with Arts crits.

With multiple hits on her face cards, and skills that increase NP generation and star weight as well, Nagao is an Arts damage-dealing machine.

If that weren’t enough, Nagao’s NP also strips enemy buffs.

Meaning should you fail to kill with her brave chain, you’ve crippled the enemy for the next turn.

3. Sakata Kintoki (Rider)

Sakata Kintoki Fate/Grand Order sprite

Kintoki Rider is one of the strongest single-target nukers in the entire game.

And that’s not all! Because his skills perfectly support his role as a damage dealer.

With a buff to his quick cards and a 50% NP charge, players can slap a power-boosting CE onto Kintoki as he doesn’t have to rely on Kaleidoscope.

Kintoki Rider is a must-pick-up for anyone looking to add to their Rider collection.

Plus, he rides a freaking motorcycle.

What more could you ask for?

2. BB (Moon Cancer)

BB Fate/Grand Order sprite

Everyone’s second favorite kouhai behind Mash makes her debut as a welfare Moon Cancer servant.

First introduced during the lengthy C.C.C event, BB is a “Sakura-Face” alongside other servants like Meltryllis and Passionlip.

BB, for a long time, was the only Moon Cancer in the game.

Which made her exceptionally proficient in taking down Avenger enemies.

Since then, several newer Moon Cancers have been released – but BB’s Arts-centric kit still packs a huge wallop (or should we say; pricks a huge injection)!

1. Jeanne Alter Summer (Berserker)

Jeanne Alter Summer Fate/Grand Order sprite

Berserker Jeanne is everything you already loved about FGO’s tsundere queen.

Only this time, in a swimsuit!

As you can expect from Jalter as a servant, we’re hitting red cards until Altera’s sheep come home.

With an insanely powerful single-target Buster NP and a deck stacked with three Buster cards, not much is living a brave chain from this bombshell.

Of course, as a Berserker, a soft breeze is going to send Summer Jalter to the beach tent for some refreshments. But while she’s on the field, there’s little that can stand in her way.
