How To Get Familiars in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds (All Methods)

There are only four ways that you can acquire Familiars in NNKCW:

  • Hatch them
  • Summon them
  • Participate in Events to earn copies of them as rewards
  • Or Tame them in the wild

Familiars are in-game companions that can boost your Combat Power and stats when equipped. They can also attack your enemies when they’re out in the field, and use various Field Skills that can provide additional DPS, buff your character, or heal them.

How To Get Familiars (All Methods)

Below are details on all four methods you can use to get Familiars in Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds.

Method #1: Hatching

Hatch Familiar Page / Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds
Hatch Familiar Page

The “Hatch Familiar” feature allows you to either Hatch three Familiar Eggs at a time, or Bulk Hatch them with Sands of Time to quicken the process.

Here are the Hatching and Wish appearance rates for each rarity of Familiars:

Rarities Hatch Rates Wish Appearance Rates
Rare and Normal 4★ Familiars 0.509% 0.770%
3★ Familiars 9.492% 14.630%
2★ Familiars 30.000% 84.599% (Shared)
1★ Familiars 59.999% 84.599% (Shared)

As you can see from the table above, you can potentially get a ton of powerful Familiars here as long as you’re consistent — even Rare 4★ Familiars if you’re really lucky.

Method #2: Summoning

Rate Up Summons (Auroralynx) / Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

Farming Summon Tickets will allow you to pull for Familiars in the Familiar Summons Gacha, where you have a much higher chance of pulling high-rarity Familiars compared to Hatching.

Rarities Summon Rates
Rare and Normal 4★ Familiars 4.000%
3★ Familiars 36.000%
2★ Familiars 60.000%

If you’re a F2P player and you want to get decent Familiars through the Summon gacha, I strongly recommend pulling in the Normal Banner and not on Event Banners.

This is because you will be able to take advantage of the Pity System much better if you stick with Normal Banners, which will stay around indefinitely, compared to time-limited Event Banners.

Method #3: Participating in Events

Bougie (Familiar Power Up Event) / Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

If you’re planning on playing this game seriously for a long time, then participating in Events is simply a must.

Not only will they allow you to farm various useful account growth materials and resources, but they’ll also often give away 4★ and even Rare 4★ Familiars!

Make sure you’re keeping track of these Events — preferably by joining the game’s official Discord Server for the sake of convenience.

Method #4: Taming Wild Familiars

Familiar Taming (Pipsqueak) / Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

The last method at your disposal is taming your own Wild Familiars, which allows you to get new Familiars as long as you have the materials.

While you cannot get anything but 1★, 2★, or 3★ Familiars through this method, I still recommend doing it once in a while if you want to farm some fodder Familiars.

Fodder Familiars are quite useful as Awakening duplicates or for farming Familiar Jellies, which will give you the items you need to enhance other Familiars you actually care about and use regularly.
