FFXIV Exarchic Gear: How To Craft + Is It Worth It?

Exarchic gear sets are level 80 pieces of equipment that can be crafted and are usually very affordable on the Market Boards.
The Exarchic gear can serve as a viable alternative to the Cryptlurker sets if you are saving up on Allagan Tomestones of Poetics – and yes, this gear is generally worth using up through the Endwalker expansion.
There are also ornate versions of Exarchic gear, but those versions aren’t worth picking up. The only thing that sets the ornate version apart is that they have five materia slots instead of two.
All versions of Exarchic gear have an item level of 510.
Which Jobs Can Craft Exarchic Gear?

The Exarchic sets can be crafted by a number of different jobs like Armorers, Leatherworkers, and Weavers. So it depends which piece you’re looking to make. They all come from level 80 Master recipes which you can purchase with White Crafters’ Scrips.

How Long is Exarchic Gear Worth Using?

If you grab some Exarchic pieces of equipment as soon as you hit level 80, you can use it for quite a bit.
The only time you may find their stats lacking is if you decide to take on harder content like savage-tier raiding.
At item level 510, Exarchic sets can stay on your character well into the earlier portion of Endwalker’s MSQ. You’ll start obtaining item level 515 gear at the very start of Endwalker, but the stat difference won’t be noticeable, especially if you are using the high-quality versions of Exarchic pieces.
You’ll start replacing your Exarchic gear when you get to the level 82 Main Scenario Quests starting with “Sound the Bell, School’s In”. This is where you’ll start to be rewarded with Pewter equipment, which has an item level of 525.
